What did everyone cook today?

ND Mike you can take your weather back up north. Now that deer season is over, I have no use for this cold and snow.
-
gus4416 sweet potatoe, not pumpkin. Similar in texture only. I like Sweet Potatoe better than pumpkin.
-
Spaghetti Alla Carbonara

GWG8541 hahahaha, I bet. I’m not a fan of it either!

Made a batch of deer Chili today. We had freezing rain that turned to snow. Tomorrow’s low is supposed to be -3. Chili and fresh cornbread seemed appropriate.

For desert, a Sweet Potatoe pie. The whipped cream was canned this time.

GWG8541 Now that is what I like, I will take the Elliott Ness & Sweet Tater Pie too, thank you very much!
We did our big batch of chili & Mexican Style Street Corn cornbread last week with Lemon Meringue pie. Have a whole lot to our oldest son & daughter in law to help them to get to feeling better & froze up two large bricks for Doomsday. The only bad thing is I cannot seem to get my Barber, whole Bulgarian Style Buttermilk any more. That is the only kind I like as all the others, I just do not care for so much. I am going to have to send away for that culture & make my own. Nice job on that chili & perfect timing. -
you can also sour your own milk with an acid based item

GWG8541 Wow, that is one nice looking meal for a cold day.

Tex_77 Great looking waffles. On a cold night, sometimes breakfast just hits the spot.
-
Five pounds of Mandarin teriyaki beef sticks in the fridge. Will smoke them in the morning.

-
good looking sticks
-
Homemade chicken noodle soup with my wife’s homemade noodles.
-
bocephus Now that will satisfy your soul, could use some of that tonight, but we are doing sausage & homemade kraut. Gonna have to make ups some bone chicken broth.
-
Homemade French Onion Soup from scratch ( except for the gruyere, parmigiano reggiano and French Bread). Designed a new recipe that is pretty darn good. The cast iron dutch oven was 3/4 full before people starting requesting refills. Happy that I took a pic before it was all gone.

calldoctoday Nothing wrong with sausage and homemade kraut, one of my favorite meals. Also, my wife made bread to go with the soup, doesn’t get much better than that at my house.

bocephus You guys really got me going on that fementing. Done the kraut now & will not go back. Also doing several batches of last of the Mohegans peppers from the garden for some fermented hot sauce for the year & then some. I cannot wait to try some of the other vittles.

calldoctoday Thank god I took a shot of the pot before the whole CI Dutch Oven pot was finished. The neighbors only wanted a small bowl because they never had it. Then, attacked me after trying it. I probably should put up the recipe.

Tex_77 It’s one of those labor of love dinners because of the prep and cook time. In our eyes, it’s worth every minute.
