YooperDog Love that 3 amigos movie. You are fantastic. One of the best responses in awhile. Thanks for the smile. Yep, I probably shouldn’t use those big words.

Usually get the house margarita but opted for the " Golden " one this time.
Yeah, this is a twice a month stop at least with my son and daughter in-law. Food is outstanding.

Out of town son-in-law from IN just delivered and poured a tasting glass of this gem (Noah’s Mill). Have heard about. But, never could get my hands on it from Willet’s. Smooth, really nice finish and definitely not like ethanol that is present in other high proof pours (114.3 proof).

GWG8541 I was totally surprised by them also. I did their complicated taxes because they live in Indiana and work in Michigan and Illinois and don’t ever expect anything. I know: Yikes. It was the first time I’ve seen them since C19 started and she’s prego with my 2nd grandson. He got laid off at Ford because of the microchip issues and they took a trip here to see her mom and I. They have my whole list of bourbons and have been looking for something I didn’t have and viola. The son-in-law said he’s been looking for 6 months and finally found one I didn’t have in my arsenal. Yep, I’m blessed. I shared a tasting with him before they headed back home. I’m still smiling that I got to share some. Yep, it was a good day.

YooperDog I like that one. But, really like the single barrel brand of Four Roses. It’s come a loooooong way since the bottle I have from 1954 that I obtained when helping someone clean their house for an estate sale. He and I opened it and performed the tasting in his parents honor and then he gave it to me.

Need help. I have a very popular Bourbon Pecan Pie that took me awhile to develop. It uses Weller Red. I have a big event coming up that I have to bake them. I can’t get Weller to save my life here around the Houston area.

I have tried so many others bourbons, it’s just not the same. I’s amazing just how much one ingredient can shift the flavor.

Any recommendations on what would be a very similar flavor profile.

Makers Mark 46 or Makers Mark, both wheated and mild with some sweetness

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day

glen The Makers Mark 46 appears to have more taste than the regular. Most of all their line (I have 4 of them) is fairly close. So, If I make a mistake and grab the incorrect one, it’s not that large of a change to me.

Chef Since the red is 107 proof. I would substitute Maker Mark Private select 105 proof, Rebel Yell 100, Larceny 92 proof, 1792 sweet heat 92 proof (if you can find it), Old Forester 100. In a pinch, you could use Weller Special Reserve at 80+ proof (107’s lighter cousin). My bud in Houston said he can locate the special reserve. But, the 107 is not around right now. Good luck.
