processhead I would think that the naming discussion around the “processing table” is fueled by how many taste tests are administered that day/week.

It’s good but… One glass was plenty. At 121 proof I didn’t need to be bouncing off the walls. LOL
Yep the Wi logo was part of a barrel buy for a chain store in state.

YooperDog I bought some Whistle Pig after years of debating. It’s rare that I will drop that much on a bottle but I saw the 10 year Rye for a ‘decent’ deal and splurged. Mind you, liquor and gas prices in my area are both inflated. It was good but I could come up with many examples at half the cost that would hold their own. Perhaps I’ll try one of the higher expressions one day.

Joe Hell picked one 750ml up for $50 right next to a $500 bottle. To much for me. After a week of boiling sap I will head back and see what else is sitting on the shelves, pretty good selection.

PapaSop Sorry about being late to reply to this, but I’ll have to add this one to my collection when I find it. Its funny that its a Tennessee whiskey named for an outlaw from Missouri. I do not idolize folk like Jesse James, but did visit his farm house and museum many years ago, while visiting family in Missouri. The funny thing was the museum had a sign on the front door stating no firearms were allowed. Kind of ironic considering who he was.

YooperDog Yeah right! $500 for a bottle that they didn’t even create the juice. They source all the juice from a variety of suppliers in the industry. Yes, they “cure it and blend it”. BUT??? Also, a group of us did taste a variety of their wares and found it fairly good. But, way overpriced. There’s many on the market that are very close and at a more reasonable price. Obviously, someone is buying them and that’s good for them. Have a good day with your $50 bottle.

Cleaning the garage today looking for some drywall tape, decided to go through the homebrewing stuff. Found some 23 year old wine and mead along with some old store bought beer in the bottle cases. Had to try the mead and wine to see how they aged. They were surprisingly good, considering I had not label the bottles and had to guess what was in them. Had one bottle of Cherry Mead bottled in 1996, really good and high alcohol, high cherry notes. Multiple bottles of coffee mead, it wasn’t bad either, more caramel notes and light coffee, bottled in 1997 and the wine was a Gewürztraminer bottled in 1997. Still have a spiced mead bottled in 1997, it’s an orphan bottle as well. Found two bottles of Barley Wine I put away and forgot about in one of the cases two. Cleaning the garage was productive, finding the drywall type, not so good, oh well the liquor took care of that.

johnsbrewhouse What great “finds”. Oh, what a tasting table. Hopefully you weren’t driving anywhere after all that tasting. Glad you had fun drudging up all that stuff. I can see you smiling while doing it. I would consider it a very good day.

zbigjeff Hoping I would find a bottle of Marionberry Melomel I had stashed. I haven’t been able to find it since I moved into this house 19 years ago. I know I have one bottle left, I saved it since it placed 2nd Nationally in the American Homebrewers Competition in 1996. It could have been two bottles one split and one 22 oz. The split I thought was a Cherry mead could have been Marionberry with the age and changes. Got me thinking now.

johnsbrewhouse Ya know “thinking” may get you in deep doodooo. Hope you find your treasure. It’s all about having fun with it. Every so often I dig up some blast from the past and just have fun remembering that time in our lives.
