Bob Stehlik Well you should see some color change, already happening up here. Just down that way last week, lots of tourists, but by then it should have thinned down. Things seemed to be all open, just limited days and hours.
I cant believe how much the leaves are changing and falling. I planted a couple food plots on Thursday and it just smells like fall. My favorite time of year
kyle it’s 98 here in Oklahoma with heat index of 105. Doesn’t feel much like fall here.

Picked up this ‘little griddle’ on marketplace for 30 bucks. Christening it with some Onion and smash burgers.

tell them that they can hunt but you get some meat out of it !

cdavis Our report says only 80 here when we first started early this morning, but about 300% humidity. No, just kidding, I think we took a reading at one time & it was only about 70% on the outside & 50 some odd% on the inside, but feels like 300%. Probably in the upper 80’s low 90’s when we wrapped it up this afternoon. I thought Oklahoma would be low humidity when I was on assignment there a time or two, but I think you had some pretty high humidity of your own surprisingly enough, maybe not this high though.

I started International Bacon Day with a hardy bacon filled breakfast for my lovely wife and ended it with a little more bacon. Dinner was an Elk, bacon with smoked cheese burger. Happy International Bacon Day everyone.

YooperDog Thanx for the update. Really getting antsy to get Up North. I need a Walleye or Perch Friday Nite fish fry bad! Have a good Labor Day weekend. Stay safe & eat well!
Bob Stehlik fish fry and brandy old fashion. I went into withdrawals when I got assigned to TX from MN. I was living in Superior, WI, grew up in Milwaukee and fish fries were common place, not so much elsewhere. I won’t even go into the blasphemy some places call an old fashion…

YooperDog You kept the censor monster at bay with the blasphemy" statement. Some of my bud’s come up from Florida and Texas in Feb-March just to get an old fashioned fish fry.

cdavis They usually don’t have much to say when they see me carrying my sidearm asking why they are on private property and I explain to them they can’t hunt the timber company property either, since they don’t want them on their land either right now. They want me to have them trespassed, it’s easier just to ask them to leave and explain to them what happens if we have to have a game warden come in. They loose their ability to hunt for a year, that changes minds fast.

zbigjeff Not sure how to say this. I am not sure anyone needs the Silent Enforcer, but the results that I have seen in some good folks that survive an enforcement are life changing, amazing. I am not sure how to say all that in a good way as it is intended.

calldoctoday Oh, no harm here. I find that most hunter’s are good people and at times, it’s difficult to tell exactly if you’re in an OK area. You advising them of that fact and them acknowledging it is a WIN.

If anyone has read the “only a cheese head will know” thread started by Jonathon, this is where the inspiration came from. Opening day was this Wednesday for dove here in Texas, it’s a day I do my best not to miss no matter when it happens. There is a song by Pat Green called, “West Texas holiday” that is about dove hunting. So here it is, grilled dove over hatch chile bacon, baked (bread) cheese, topped with a slice of avocado and jalapeno.

My local grocer, which happens to be best in the USA, H-E-B makes bacon wrapped shrimp with jack cheese and jalapenos. Well I decided I needed some garlic butter to dip them in to celebrate this great Sunday Funday!!!
