YooperDog definitely one underrated whiskey. I’ve had a few outstanding single barrels from them and their pricepoint is really good.

GWG8541 YooperDog Strange things happen when you hide the bottles and perform a perfect blind tasting. Like many, we’ve found out that the “bottom dwellers labeled by the chasers” usually end up in the top third of the night. Chasers shy away from this type of tasting because it hurts their “feelings”. Oh wellllllll!!!

GWG8541 YooperDog Interestingly my Father owned a bar/restaurant in Buffalo NY. and one of his favorite games was taking bets on blind taste tests… When you can’t see the color or label it’s darn impossible to tell the difference… He would make a lot fm those that thought they could id top shelf… And the challenge happened Offen with a double or nothing loss… Cheers

HerbcoFood They bleed a lot but seem to heal quickly, a little tender for a while. Take care of the pup then take care of your self.

bocephus Yeah, I was told could take up to a couple of weeks to properly heal. We shall see, going to get some antibiotics from the vet today.

Corona sunrise. (Beer, tequila, OJ, grenadine, lime)
Had to try it. It’s decent.
Not usually a fan of mixing stuff in my beer except for Micheladas. -

PapaSop Have you had this?

Tex_77
Nope. Not seen that one yet. -
Tex_77 Interesting that it is a blend of different whiskeys and still meets the bonded requirements
-
Tex_77 never seen it. But I’m intrigued.

glen If you look at the bonding requirements, they just have to be produced by the same distillery, the same season and by the same distiller. It can be multiple batches which can vary greatly just through the process and the time of the year they are barreled.

johnsbrewhouse I never doubted that it met the requirements Jack Daniels is a huge distillery that probably distills a variety of whiskeys at the same time and in the same season
More unusual is the statement of varieties on the bottle and published blend amounts:“Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash is a blend of three straight Bottled-In-Bond whiskeys – 60% Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye, 20% Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and 20% Jack Daniel’s American Malt. Each expression is distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee, in the same distilling season, aged to the stipulations of the Bottled in Bond Act, then blended and bottled at 100 proof. It’s a remarkable whiskey that can only be crafted by a complete distillery like Jack Daniel’s”.

Just an observation on distilled spirits in general and whiskeys in particular.
There seems like there is a huge effort by the distillers to come up with ever more flavors and variations of their products to try and get more people buying a bottle. I am sure many of you have noticed the trend in flavored vodka, rum, whiskey, etc. which I suspect is intended to get more women to drink distilled spirits.
The other thing I have noticed is a significant marketing effort directed at packaging and labeling of the newer products. Some of the labeling is very creative but unfortunately that tells you very little about the quality of what’s in the bottle. I can imagine a lot of the packaging/labeling may hook a new buyer for at least one bottle until the consumer finds out its not to his or her liking.Anyone who has been around the last 50-60 years or so remembers when choices of everything distilled was much more limited compared to today. It’s a mixed blessing. In general, choice is good.
Making the right choice can be a carp shoot.

Tex_77 It’s a newby on my watch. This is real??? Correct??
