What did everyone cook today?

GWG8541 we have a few Amish family’s very close to us so we get a lot of vegetables and baked goods from them they made us a raisin pie the other day I was sceptecal of it but it was fantastic
gus4416 I doubt they make to many things bad. There is a bakery next to the store I go to. I gain weight just walking into the bakery. You are lucky to have those neighbors for sure.

Surg That’s one good looking pie. With all that pecan goodness inside, bet the crust was just fine.
wdaly had to fight the urge to try it. Bringing it to dinner tonight.

We will have my side of the family here Christmas eve, so we will be hosting about 24 family this evening. My youngest son, said he wanted to make the bread for today. So last night we went to work. We have had sour dough starter for a few months and made 3 loaves of sour dough and 3 loaves of Cinnamon bread and baked them early this morning. I have never made Christmas jam, but love it. I always pick up a jar at a Mennonite store. The fresh Cinnamon bread with the Christmas jam and a cup of coffee was breakfast this morning. I still have a lot of cooking to do, time to get to work.

GWG8541 That bread looks great, don’t know when I have ever been to Christmas with 24, you are going to be busy.

Reindeer bait. Chex, pretzels, M&Ms, mini marshmallows, and a bunch of white and milk chocolate.

Candied cranberries. Doesn’t have the sugary sparkle like the recipe I followed but they taste pretty darn good.

Surg that all looks very nice I would like a recipe for candied cranberry’s tho that sound delicious
gus4416 honestly they were pretty easy to make. Basically a simple syrup of half cup sugar and half cup water and simmer for five minutes or so until syrupy. Then add 3 cups of cranberries and takeoff the heat. stir until covered. Put on parchment and let cool till tacky and then coat with white granulated sugar. Thinking of adding a few to an old fashion later.

HerbcoFood Anything with pasta has got to be good. Love those thick noodles. Are they homemade?
wdaly No they were just some higher end brand, I like to splurge on pasta from time to time. You can really tell the difference.

Everyone contributes. Delicious.
All the best to everyone and your family memories.

Some cheesy potatoes and green bean casserole on the side. -
PapaSop I have a prime rib and doing twice baked potato casserole and asparagus tomorrow. Had traditional family Christmas Eve meal, oyster stew and grilled cheese. My parents and I are the only ones in the family that would eat oysters, oldest brother would have one just so he said he ate one.
