GWG8541 Was going stir crazy and had to try “something” to test out the leg. Just a little better each day. Yay.

lkrfletcher Probably one of the simplest things I’ve ever made. Goes to show everyone, it doesn’t always need a slew of items to be good.

ND Mike I did like it. I was not happy when I went into the freezer and did not find any Vanilla ice cream. But, I just had to try it. Like either you or someone else said: what a perfect item for camping. Well, Hail Yes. Three-four pieces to wash when all said and done.

Well, my first project during rehab was “the dump cake” by ND Mike . As designed by its creator on this blog, the recipe that uses a cask iron dutch oven was a success. I used cherries just like the original on this site. It was also as stated: easy and decadent. See the series of pictures supporting the process. The dump cake is still in the cooling process and wanted to take all the pics before someone just dives in and starts extracting the goodness. BTW: this pot was restored from total rust about 2 years ago when I bought it for $3 and has three legs for use in outdoor fires.

JohnG5 It looks like many have attained a sweet tooth while doing all that smoking. Blaming ND Mike on this. Well, the testing has had no negatives so far.

zbigjeff your recovery is at a good time for easy and simple recipes with the summer heat although the heat and humid can be miserable when you are laid up . I am waiting to have a hernia surgery that is not to pressing and will have it when the snow fly’s so I don’t have to shovel LOL !

I had a request to put this here. This can be made in a camp dutch oven with charcoal or in a regular oven at home! Super easy! 2 cans cherry pie filling, 1 box chocolate cake mix, 1 cup chocolate chips ( or more to your liking), and cherry coke. Pour the cans of pie filling in dutch oven and spread out. Put chocolate chips evenly on top of cherries. Mix in a can of cherry coke with the dry cake mix blending well so no dry clumps. I added about another 2 ounces to get the consistency I wanted. Pour on top of cherries and chocolate chips and smooth out. I added four small pats of butter just because…lol! Cook 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from the top cake layer.

Jonesy See what ND Mike started. Darn HIM. He also forced me to do one with Blueberry filling just to see if that was equal to the cherry. OK, it was very good. But, I will still blame him for my taste buds salivating.
