What did everyone cook today?

zbigjeff We’ve had smoke for over 2 months too… No escape

Steven Winscot We are fortunate in Western Washington, our smoke comes and goes with the wind off the Pacific depending on the flow. The only problem, when we get the smoke from fires, we get it from the all in the Northwest and it often looks foggy. The smoke is suppose to move back in today for a bit with the airflow becoming offshore.

Cool again today so I fired up the oven for pumpkin pie.Steven Winscot Your Killin me
-
Something on the simple side .Steven Winscot We weren’t supposed to see the smiley face on the bun. Right?
-
Just packaged another pork belly of dry rub bacon. The wife said it’s “some really good bacon”. I’ll take that as a win.
-
kyle I understand. There was just something about laying that free/reuse newspaper down on the table before throwing all that shrimp, crabs, sausages, onions, & corn down & then wrapping it all up with the shells after we were done. Try putting one stick of butter for each person in the boil mix (max out at about five), whew, talk about unhealthy & good! I think its time to head for the coast & get some Blue Crabs & Shrimp.
calldoctoday we always made a “dam” out of a ring of salt and put the butter in it

Steven Winscot I realized it was hot down there when 4 of my life buds (2 diff couples) in and around the Houston area came up to Ohio just so they could sit outside and enjoy something outside of their houses. We had a blast while they were here enjoying the “natural air conditioning”.
zbigjeff Yes, we used to have to go up to places like Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, etc. to be able to enjoy camping in the Summer. Minnesota had some huge Mosquitos, but they were not as mean as some of them at various locations in the south.

Tried a Bulgogi Mandu with Kimchi tonight. My son makes the Kimchi, I tried tried making the fried dumplings or Mandu for the first time and will have to work on them again. They were good, but I want a little more spice the next time around.

-
Taste testing a couple seasonings tonight. One was made my my boys babysitter. She said it has won bbq competitions. The other I just whipped up:SPPOG Mixture. Stay tuned.

wdaly I like Korean cuisine in general with Bulgogi being one of my favorites entrees. So I thought I’d give this a shot, since I had it at a restaurant before. It was not bad, but I definitely want more kick next time.

What’s fun about doing it camping is people around you at the campground think your some fancy chef, it reality, I’m just a fat guy who likes to eat

All on the grill now. Indirect to start for a reverse sear cook. Egg is sitting at about 300F for the reverse.

@matt-westerhaus Did Rhonda teach you how to cook? Maybe you and Joe should have a BBQ throwdown!

One more thing, took the shells of the shrimp, boiled them with captains bay, strained it and added butter. Dumped over the boil on our plates. Probably not the healthiest, but omg was it good
