That slicer will probably outlast you.

Give it a good cleaning and detailing. If it hasn’t been used for a while, the carriage may need to be cleaned and lubricated for smooth operation.

Did it come with a sharpener for the blade? A sharpener is not essential, but does simplify the sharpening process.

processhead Hi Paul, I spend all day yesterday cleaning it. I disassembled most of the top pieces and body. Yes, it did come with a sharpener and I plan to sharpen the blade today. I’ve ordered an end cap for the motor and a new set of feet and knobs for it. I’m hoping to try it out today with slicing bacon! Also, it’s one heavy piece of equipment!

Absolutely awesome! I picked up a Walton 10” slicer and I don’t know why I waited so long.

                Congrats

Congrats I sold my Hobart slicer because of the weight and purchased a Walton’s 10 inch slicer. I was very happy with the Hobart and I’m just as happy with the Walton’s .

Think a Walton’s 10" is on the wish list next after dragging out the Cabela’s 8.5". I know now why I have it buried on the shelf and normally hand slice my bacon and other meats. I actually decided to really disassemble it after using it, further than they recommend. Holy cow, you would not believe how much stuff gets into places you can’t clean without tearing it completely apart. I will never use it again. Anyone who has one, be aware there are places you thought were clean that are not, no matter how much scrubbing and soaking you do, you have to take out screws and remove parts not normally removed.

Pivodog Great looking piece of equipment. What’s the carriage clearance on that monster? Looks like it’s pretty good sized so slicing the bacon must have been a breeze.
