Drink of Choice

Some Hibiki Don’t worry didn’t drink it all today save this for the “special” days.
And the new toy the wife got me. I see many more snack sticks and cured sausages in my future.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Cheers

Update: first time having these two back to back and the Legent (a collaboration between Jim Beams distiller and Suntory‘s master blender) is a nice follow up. Little higher proof and a bit more burn, but at half the price point a nice one-two punch.Surg Nice combo. Meat mixer and the Japanese liquor. That gets someone at least a kiss.

I got a nice addition to my Tennessee and Kentucky shelves today. Happy Father’s Day everyone.

zbigjeff nice to see you back on here. I hope you are doing well.

GWG8541 Now, that’s a very nice haul. Time to invite whoever would like a taste over to your patio.

GWG8541 Thanks for noticing. Probably not back full time yet. But, will build up the tolerance to sit at a desk in the next weeks/months.

GWG8541 All three of those are Awesome! I’ve had them all and it’s tough to pick a favorite from amongst them. Glad you had a good Father’s Day.

zbigjeff Welcome back! Hope the surgery went well and that you’ll be out and about soon.

Bob Stehlik Recovery is always slower than wanted. But, my support staff is saying “we’re going forward because all the boxes have been checked so far”. That’s all positive and sticking with that thought.

Jonathon s request, please list your drink of choice. I’ll start, I love bourbon and Coors Light or a good old Coors yellow belly. My bourbons of choice are Elijah Craig, Bulliet, Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam Black and W.L. Wellers. Now if I just want to pound down some drinks a good 7&7 can’t be beat.

Joe Hell OK, I’m jealous. It’s on my list to locate and taste. It’s supposedly the closest a person will get to the old pappy.

zbigjeff That is a comparison I haven’t heard! Glad I managed to score. This is certainly more affordable at $50 and quite good! I rarely go over that price point, but on those few occasions I haven’t run into anything that made me go, ‘wow!’. I’d love to try a Pappy but I can’t imagine the price is justified. Limited distribution and media hype push prices these days. There are plenty great offerings in the sub $30 category too.

Joe Hell I’m reading a book given to me by daughter called Pappyland. Basically, Julian (Pappy’s son) indicates throughout the book that Weller brands are just the less aged Pappy. I can see that since I’ve had all the way up through the 23 yr old. Enjoy your find.

badfire2625 I never acquired a taste for whiskey, but all you guys pictures of the varieties make me think I need to work at it a little harder. Enjoy some down time!

Tex_77 I picked up this gorgeous gin the other day. It was too hot for cooking so icy beverages seemed in order. This is a Singapore Empress. I’ve got some work to do on complimenting garnishes but I look forward to the research and development!

wdaly I’ve previously written about a very bad experience I had at an early age. It’s taken me until 56 years old to get where I am. And I have a ways to go. I’m still very much a neophyte when it comes to whiskeys. The rest of these fine folks have helped tremendously.

Joe Hell - I tried that gin and didn’t like it very well I was super excited to try it. Maybe I didn’t mix the right gin drink for it. I love gin and try a lot of different ones.

Joe Hell I’m still not a huge gin fan, but the wife likes it. Whats the recipe for that good looking drink.
