    We would elbow each other just to get to them first. She’s been gone a long time. Haven’t had any since. She used lard. Probably why they were so good.

    PapaSop It was my mom who made the doughnuts for us, if you helped you always got the first ones with a cold glass of milk. When she made them she made a bunch, had a big square Tupperware container that she filled and put in the freezer. It didn’t last as long as she thought it should.

      OMG!!! You should honor grandma and post a recipe with her name attached for prosperity in the Recipe Section. Your picture transported me back 45 years. Still remember the smell of lard and taste the soaked fried goodness in the crumby cake donut matrix

          Jonesy man that picture took me back to my childhood. Mom used to make them and man were they awesome.

              My grandma used to make these to she used a Dutch oven filled with lard us kids would gather around and beg her to make doughnut holes for us as I got older I remember her putting some in powdered sugar and boy were they great
