cdavis No, there is a reason why he got that old, son of gun never was gonna stop walking when he came through. All I had enough time to do was grab the gun and shoot.

When you take your deer into a check station here, they will randomly pull deer and age them. They will also do it if you ask them too.
Interesting to watch how they do it. They look at the wear on the rear molar surfaces of their teeth to determine their age.

processhead Yeah, the ranch I hunt on requires you age the deer when you fill out the tag in their book. They have the set of bottom jaws to age the deer. It still can be a little difficult with them.

My youngest son and I got a day of muzzleloader in yesterday. Because of his job, he has only been able to hunt 2 days this year and this was definitely the end of the season for him. I let several small doe walk in the morning since my freezer is about at capacity and I was counting on him getting one. He took a buck in the afternoon, so I’m doing another freezer purge tonight to make room. At least its well below freezing outside and I can use coolers while figuring it out.

GWG8541 Very nice. Congratulations to him on a job well done. Which smoke stack did he use? Let him hang for a few days, it will really make the meat much nicer, so long as it is not too cold.

I send out Congratulations to ALL of you with your fall hunts and family fishing adventures this fall!!
I hunt deer 1st season shotgun in Iowa and soft water fish only now as I’ve almost sold all of my ice gear with an exception of my auger and flasher n camera.
My groups deer hunt has been less than stellar for the last 3 years. We had a major loss of deer to a disease that was not CWD in the county and river basin that we hunt on private ground. I still have deer tho, a friend sent me 3 deer that were reported and I will process then for our group. T-Loins, loins/back straps, burger is already packaged and divided. I have Summer sausage, bacon and meat sticks to do. Another fella in our group does the dried jerky.
