What did everyone cook today?

YooperDog Elotes are the best! I also feel like I robbed the grocery store today as well, I picked up a Prime Brisket marked choice for $2.99# at one store, and at another store got a choice brisket for $1.99#.
Tex_77 Whoa & I mean WHOA! I could only get choice flat last Monday, no prime, no Full Packers & I had to pay $5.69 a pound for that stuff. I usually pay about $2.39 a pound for prime whole packers & we thought that was expensive.

Tex_77 I haven’t seen brisket under $5/lb around here, were you wearing a mask? LOL

Tex_77 the Elotes were a test run for the wedding. I think if we go that route I would make it off the cob to serve as a side. A handful of folks that are coming are spinning up that I won’t have designated servers because of C-19. I am providing hand sanitizer and food service gloves… Their decision.
YooperDog I would definitely just make it a salad for that, individual cobs would be a ton of work. Maybe buy frozen corn, char under a broiler, then you won’t have the mess of cleaning the corn and cutting it off the cob.

YooperDog If it ain’t one thing, its another. I would be thoroughly thrilled if someone was cooking good food for me & providing free drink. I would want to help, like the old days. I better leave it alone.

YooperDog Yeah, Robbers are everywhere, they’re everywhere!
-
YooperDog Not into either of those stores. The Mexican grocery I went to as well did require masks.
-
I will say that I saw that Piggly Wiggly advertised Boston Butt this week for .85. May not be any left though from what I have been seeing lately & no rain checks either.

Tex_77 for those prices you probably should have to avoid the security cams. Way things are they may be posting your pic on FB for getting such a good deal.
-
Ah, I am laughing. You got that right!

YooperDog maybe I go old west next time and tie a bandana on.

Hi all. Had a seafood buffet Tuesday and did an ice carving as the center piece. Had fresh smoked salmon, crab legs, shrimp, fried catfish and charbroiled oyster. This gave me the chance to do an ice sculpture which I haven’t done in a few years. A feast for those who like seafood.

Chef Nice, that is fancy! Where did you learn to carve ice?

Chef

Chef color me impressed sir!

The chef that I trained under was one of 10 certified executive chefs in the world. He did things right and pushed me to be the best. One of his loves was Ice carving. He passed away and left me his chisels and small chain saw that he used along with several books and templates. Every time I do one I always think of the time and hard work we shared together. Not much call for ice sculptures these days , kind of considered old fashion.

End of week simple. Was going to do Jack’s pizza on the Pizzazz but… Fired up the the grill.
Third attempt at this. Moved the coals to a circle around the Weber. Last time was good but charred the crust with coals directly underneath.
About 14 minutes total cook No smoke. This was amazing. Probably the best frozen pizza ever.

Ribs going on tomorrow am.
