Plants are coming along. Did some transplanting today. Still waiting for the warmer days. We have had a couple of opportunities to set them outside, but not many.

We have got ours in with about 4 rows of green beans, a few maters, lots of peppers, about a half row of chard, maybe 6 hills each of Candy Lope, Squarsh, & Cucumbers, plenty of onions, a few more carrots & radishes. We are still plucking Kale, Collards, & Cabages too & will plant a few okra soon too. I am going to try some Red Okra again. Has any of you all tried any of that Dr. JimZ Chicken Soup for the Soil?

zbigjeff These were pretty easy. I just built a 4x4 box out of 2x6’s in the woods behind the house and filled with spawn and wood chips

What is the Dr. JimZ chicken soup?
GWG8541 It is apparently an organic, mineral laden fertilizer of sorts that The Old Farmer’s Almanac promotes quite a bit. You might try doing a search for it & see what comes up.

Jonathon That looks real good. Believe it or not, I am still hand forking this 30 x 40 plot since coming here 20 years ago after having to get rid of my tractor with the beast tiller on it from Italy. I know those plots will do you right.

Jonathon You need to get horse watering troughs for planters above ground. No bending over, they retain water and heat, hardly have to weed. I am converting most of my raised beds to these. All I have to do is weed wack or spray around them.
By the way this was last summer, no planting until next week when the frost danger should be done here.
