Jonathon funny I actually thought of you when posting because of your intro to the recent podcast. I do like some sours too. Best one I’ve had was from Crooked Hammock brewery in Delaware. It was a pineapple coconut sour (kinda piña colada-ish).

Uncorked a bottle of George Dickel 8 year. I had some neat, then made a Maple Old Fashioned for the second one. I definitely recommend it.

My little mom n pop had ample Old Grand Dad on hand, so I gave the 114 a try. It’s a little warm but not so bad that you can’t pull some flavors.

GWG8541 It is a good brand. Also, smiled when you made a maple old fashioned. The only difference is that I use maple flavored knob creek. But, probably get the same effect: GOOD!

HerbcoFood Tex and I think for the 114, it is pretty smooth and sippable. Enjoy your choice.

Surg I also like the “art” and “design”. I can always get one IPA down. But, probably not more than that. Just not my style. Glad that you enjoy it.

zbigjeff I traded some deer meat for a quart of maple syrup from a guy who does his own. He mentioned making an Old Fashioned with it, so that got my attention. I did 3 oz of Dickel, .75 oz maple syrup, 3 dashes of bitters and a lemon peel. It was tasty.

YooperDog Dickel is one of the most underrated whiskeys in my humble opinion. I really like my Tennessee sour mash and its definitely a good one.

GWG8541 I can definitely see where you’re going with the old fashioned. Good for you. You do know that bartering is taxable. Right? OK, I see your head shaking from side to side. P.S. I like the bartering system all of us have built. Keep it up.

I can’t remember if I have talked about this on this thread or not but we went to Jamacia for spring break in college (not coincidentally RIGHT before I failed out) and we stayed at place that had a house special drink called the Purple Passion. Years after the guys I went with and I still talked about this drink, so I made it a bunch when I moved down to Texas. If anyone wants to try it https://advancedmixology.com/blogs/art-of-mixology/purple-passion-recipe just be a little careful. It is responsible for a few of the blurriest nights of my life and that is saying something!

Jonathon It wasn’t to many years ago that you could buy Purple Passion in 2 liters at the liquor store. It was a mix of a grape drink and Everclear.
