Ridley Acres cdavis I forgot to mention my local grocery had pork shoulder for 99 cents a lb this week. I picked up the last 3 they had Saturday, which was the last day of the sale.

GWG8541 That is good to know that the Kitchen Aid also works well as a meat mixer.

calldoctoday Over the summer I picked up a 20qt univex planetary type mixer for around $70 that needed some repairs. I have the variable speed pulleys reconditioned and still need to put the new bowl lift housing on, but once I have that going it will be my primary mixer and has #12 grinder attachment. I’ll be sure to report on how well it performs, but wifey has higher priority on getting our second bathroom finished first.

              GWG8541 Absolutely, its my pleasure!

In its current state, the mixer would grind with the attachment, but I cannot lift the bowl for any mixing.

I did my test run on the new grinder with some breakfast sausage. I made 5 lbs of Dixie and 3 lbs of Holly breakfast sausage. This was the first time trying the Dixie. I did a double course grind. I am really happy with the grinder and really like the Dixie seasoning from Walton’s. I made a few 1/4 pound patties of the Dixie with some eggs over easy and toast at breakfast for my oldest son and me. He is a Firefighter/Paramedic and just got off of his 24 hour shift. He really liked the Dixie seasoning. For anyone who hasn’t tried the Dixie, it is mild and doesn’t have a heavy sage taste, but is full of flavor.

cdavis I got it because the wife is not a fan of sage. We all put in to much sweat equity to serve up stuff the family doesn’t like, so I gave this one a try.

Venison smoked sausage and shrimp jambalaya. Turned out really good. Served with fresh green beans, salad and French roll. Cooked in cast iron Dutch oven.
