Just got around to watching the podcast. The drop in rancher share of price from 35% to 14% caught my interest. Went back to check and on our last half a beef, 60% of total cost went to the local rancher and 40% went to the local processor. Like the fact that 100% of the cost started in our country. Not to mention it’s always great meat.

wdaly I try to buy local beef and have it butchered locally! I’m glad that ranchers are starting to take a stand against the big 4 companies.

bocephus I agree. Local farm raised beef is absolutely superior in my opinion.

Subway was all right up until that whole Jared thing, then it seemed it went down hill shortly after that.

Austin It is nice to hear your hesitancy and disclaimers about pricing going up. As Jonathon said, we have been warned and, yes, this is not a surprise. I am not offended by Walton’s slight price increases, I am however offended by other companies increases which appear to be taking advantage of the consumer and make me think flagrant foul. As a consumer I appreciate the warnings that prices will be going up soon, but establishments that sneak prices up become places I patron less frequently.

Austin Jonathon as far as the down votes discussion…Think about the placement of it and how you scroll on a mobile device. Maybe there should be a confirmation after down vote or move the button not on the sides of the window.

bocephus It’s terrible. Actually, since they went to cooking their burgers at least somewhat to order, it’s gotten a little better, but overall, it’s bottom of the barrel. However, I would rather starve than eat Subway. I get nauseous just walking in that place.

Most of our local burger joints/bars compete with the price of fast-food these days and, with a little planning ahead, can have you eating and out the door in about the same time as a place like McDonalds. I can order a BCB with fries and a drink at our local sports bar and be out the door for under $9. I call it in 5 minutes ahead or so and it is just as quick as McD’s. Hand-formed ground beef and thick-sliced bacon.

Midwest_kc Dr_Pain Regarding McDonald’s: The only time I buy a burger there is when I’m constipated and that hasn’t been for at least 3 years. All the additives they have in their product work very nicely to open up the pipeline. (Note: I have a store at the end of my street (less than 1/2 mile). Regarding Subway: They used to be very good 6-7 years ago. Now, all of the stores around me have been purchased by foreign families and they are basically cheating their customers (I have 6 within a 5 mile radius). Been to 4 of them to purchase some burgers and subs per request of people that are shutins and can’t drive there. We noticed that the amount of product between the buns is less than half of what we are used to. Obviously, they are not following corporate protocol. I always either make them at home or go to a valid restaurant where the product is outstanding.

Dr_Pain You are one sick “motha” and love it. I have a taco bell 3/4 mile from me and have never been there because of the colon cleanse scenario. If I need to go out and eat, there are way tooooooo many options for good food. But, if a friend wants to meet at some subpar place, I will go there because of it being a friend request. Love the “I see a trend”. You just made me smile. Thanks.

I’ve been told, and I have to embrace it 🙂

I’ve eaten Taco-Smell 2x in my life and I just celebrated my 50th. I would rather explosive diarrhea from a bottle of magnesium citrate then go back.
