Picked beans today, this is the second picking. I got another 2 lbs. from my small 4’ x 12’ raised bed. Looks like beans with the rockfish tonight.
johnsbrewhouse Looking good, I started drying some of my sweet onions today. Tomatoes are starting to come in and peppers are doing great. The long bell peppers in the pic are Big Berthas and living up to their name. They are averaging 7 to 8 inches long.

GWG8541 Bell peppers still have a couple of weeks to go, The green bells were having trouble setting blossoms, but now has peppers. Pouring the water to them and we have warm weather as well. The beans seem to grow daily, I just picked this morning and went to water tonight and swear I missed a bunch but I know I picked everything that was ready. The heat brings them on.

johnsbrewhouse it’s hard to read about all the fresh garden stuff and to look at the pictures. Here in northern Wisconsin, I’m barely past the blossom stage.

kyle Well, at least you still have hope. Here in SE Alabama most of it is in the rot stage.
Peppers & Okra doing so/so, but they have been bothered by too much rain this year.
Hope is the Fall garden.

calldoctoday we have had no rain up here. Seems like all me and the wife do is water to try and save what we have. I put a 300 gallon tank on a trailer and go to the river and fill it with a one inch gas pump, then use the pump to suck it out of the tank to water. Works good, just getting old

kyle Wow, that is a lot of work to get it watered, but sounds great & I would do that if I had to. Wish I could ship some your way.

kyle I can feel your pain Kyle. Western Washington is strange too. We had a late frost mid May, then 100 degree weather in late June and July. We usually don’t get much of anything until August with the mid temperatures. We usually sit at 80 degrees or less until mid August and have some rain. We have had no rain in 45 days.

johnsbrewhouse Yes, that is strange. We were in Colorado a few years ago for a meeting & it was snowing or at least snow on the ground in late June. We absolutely loved that weather there then & it was the devil getting off the plane again in SE Alabama.

kyle I am with you on that, the season up north is definitely short. Chipmunks have chewed off a few of the peppers that are starting, they have since been retired. Tomatoes and winter squash are just starting to show fruit. On the good side wild berries are going gang busters and and my mushroom bed just had a flush.

YooperDog I put out a mushroom bed about 7 months ago.I had a small flush last week to get a little taste.I had always wanted to do it so gave it a shot. Hopefully i does ok.

Had to pick green beans again. I just picked them four days ago, actually three days because I picked a small batch on Monday. I got 3 3/4 lbs. this morning, needed to get them picked before the heat hits this afternoon. Going to have to harvest some cucumbers and yellow squash in the next couple of days before they get to big.

YooperDog our raspberry and strawberry patches did great this year. Still picking raspberries. Finally picked our first green beans. Only thing that did really good was cabbage. Normal year I make my kraut first week of October. I think I’m going to have to do it next week before the heads split. Cucumbers are just starting to form now

we are still getting raspberries here and marionberries. The wild blackberries won’t be ready for 3-4 weeks. We are several weeks ahead this year with the unusual hot weather. Suppose to have several hot days this week 90+ degrees then a bit cooler.

YooperDog I put out a mushroom bed about 7 months ago.I had a small flush last week to get a little taste.I had always wanted to do it so gave it a shot. Hopefully i does ok.
RON PARRISH first mushroom beds for me. The first flush was easily over 5 lbs. Things slowed a bit to a couple every day. More 'shrooms than I knew what to do with them. Gave a couple of lbs away.

Normal year I make my kraut first week of October. I think I’m going to have to do it next week before the heads split. Cucumbers are just starting to form now
kyle I have been picking raspberries since the second week of July. I have been gathering on the average a quart a day, blueberries have started about a week ago along with thimble berries. Blackberries have just started to ripen, about a 7-10 days and they will be going well. I will be busy with wines this winter.
