A steak with my old grand dad.

Speaking of Old Grand Dad. We discontinued this a few months back. Just brought it back. I know why. The bonds and higher proof are making a comeback.
This is really, really good. Definitely a sipper which I’m not used to but at 114 proof is a winner. Started on the rocks but now tasting neat. Cheers.

Oh yeah, the steak, locally sourced from a family farm and small town butchered and processed. Why is this so much tastier?.. Just saying.

I went camping again this weekend and hit a local liquor store near the campground. I found this and was happy with the purchase. It was a store pick and they did a great job selecting.

GWG8541 That’s a pour we enjoyed a couple week ago and totally enjoyed it. It’s a great pickup for you especially while camping and possibly sitting by a fire. yay for YOU.

RON PARRISH It does have some warmth to it, might be too spicy for some and not enough for others.

Buddy of mine went to Pigeon Forge, TN and brought me back a moonshine sampler. Pretty good, some are kinda sweet though. My wife and I may be headed to Nashville the end of September and was wondering if anybody had any must see/do/eat-at suggestions?

Surg well the question is how are you traveling, car, camp Rv or hotel? When I pass thru that area I stay at the Navel base 10m north. 10-$12 a day for a camp site

Planning to fly. Doing a long weekend kind of trip. Gonna stay near downtown and probably spend most of our time there. Definitely plan on gettin some hot chicken at Hattie B’s or Prince’s and heard Acme and Pharmacy burgers are worth hitting up.
Only have flight booked so far.
First vacation without the kids. -

First vacation without the kids.Surg sounds great. Should be a great visit. Lots of history , music strip and old dives . Enjoy. Just a thought. When I hit a new area I find a bus tour is well worth the time before I wander around. Most of the locals guides can really point out the good and bad spots

Surg like JOE B has mentioned there are some great places to visit there. You’ll have a full weekend trip. If you plan on renting a car and want to hit the outlying places its a nice option vs taking a taxi and staying strictly downtown. Acme Feed and Seed has good food at a decent price and live acts. There are different levels to the building. You cannot throw a rock without hitting an expiring singer near Broadway. There are a lot of great places to eat and drink. I drove the last trip. I don’t like the hustle and bustle of downtown and stayed at a Hampton Inn near Vanderbilt and used Uber to get in to the Broadway area at night. I believe it was about a 10 to 15 minute drive. If you have time and a car, the Jack Daniels distillery is a few hours south of town. If not this trip, its worth a visit if you are in that part of Tennessee. Dickel’s distillery is about 15 miles from Jack. We hit the Ryman Auditorium for a show the December before Covid, which is where the Grand Ole Opry does the shows in the winter. I believe they do Ryman (The Mother Church) tours in the summer. If you like Country music history, its a great place to visit. If you go to the Grand Old Opry for a show it will be at the big Opry north if town. The Gaylord Opryland Hotel is something to see, especially at Christmas. I’ve never stayed there, but we walked through and its a small city and awesome at Christmas time. I hope you have a great trip.

Surg Old Forge is one of my favorite shine places in the Smokies. My parents were both from East Tennessee and I still hit it about 2 times a year. Sugarland also has some good shine. I may or may not still get mine from friends and or family when I visit the great state. Old Forge has some really good bourbon. They also make gin, which I do not care for, but the wife like gin and tonic. I asked her how the gin was and she said “its ok” which is wife speak for I’d rather have Tanqueray.
