zbigjeff That is a comparison I haven’t heard! Glad I managed to score. This is certainly more affordable at $50 and quite good! I rarely go over that price point, but on those few occasions I haven’t run into anything that made me go, ‘wow!’. I’d love to try a Pappy but I can’t imagine the price is justified. Limited distribution and media hype push prices these days. There are plenty great offerings in the sub $30 category too.

Joe Hell I’m reading a book given to me by daughter called Pappyland. Basically, Julian (Pappy’s son) indicates throughout the book that Weller brands are just the less aged Pappy. I can see that since I’ve had all the way up through the 23 yr old. Enjoy your find.

badfire2625 I never acquired a taste for whiskey, but all you guys pictures of the varieties make me think I need to work at it a little harder. Enjoy some down time!

Jonathon s request, please list your drink of choice. I’ll start, I love bourbon and Coors Light or a good old Coors yellow belly. My bourbons of choice are Elijah Craig, Bulliet, Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam Black and W.L. Wellers. Now if I just want to pound down some drinks a good 7&7 can’t be beat.

Tex_77 I picked up this gorgeous gin the other day. It was too hot for cooking so icy beverages seemed in order. This is a Singapore Empress. I’ve got some work to do on complimenting garnishes but I look forward to the research and development!

wdaly I’ve previously written about a very bad experience I had at an early age. It’s taken me until 56 years old to get where I am. And I have a ways to go. I’m still very much a neophyte when it comes to whiskeys. The rest of these fine folks have helped tremendously.

Joe Hell - I tried that gin and didn’t like it very well I was super excited to try it. Maybe I didn’t mix the right gin drink for it. I love gin and try a lot of different ones.

zbigjeff yeah the pine flavor is what gets me. I’ve had a few I can tolerate. She just likes a good old Gin and Tonic with lime.

Jonathon you weren’t lying. I brought my bottle of Elijah Craig to Virginia Beach for vacation. We got here Sunday. It’s now Tuesday and poof. It’s gone. 10:00 AM I’ll be grabbing some more. My favorite so far. I’ve not wanted 12 hours to pass quickly since I was at work last…

If you guys have never tried Redemption High Rye Bourbon, give it a try, mellow and smooth. It’s been a favorite of mine for years. They also have a small batch (blue label) but they were out of it today. Also picked up the Evan Williams favorites of mine. Weller is still more rare than hen’s teeth around here. Hope you all have a great 4th. Stay safe and eat well!63021 2.jpg

Nice little arsenal you got there. Almost picked up a bottle of that uncle nearest the other day. Have you had it yet? Is it any good?

GWG8541 Replenished the Arsenal today. The wife has accused me of ignoring her and that I should seek Redemption. Well, I found it in the bourbon aisle! Stay safe and eat well!63021 2.jpg

kyle I am from Wisconsin, but I’ve lived in Colorado for quite a while. Looking to move back. We are going to the Eagle River/St Germain area for two weeks at the end of September to October 9th. Look forward to going to a supper club or two and having a good Wisconsin style Old Fashioned!
