    Franziskaner.

I am a beer drinker, don’t drink the hard stuff.

But my non alcoholic drink of choice is A-Treat grapefruit soda mixed with A&W cream soda.

Tex_77 broke out the ranch water with this recipe:

2 shots of tequila in a glass (3 ounces).
Mix in the juice of 1 lime (that’s about 1 1/2 ounces).
Fill the glass with ice and top it off with Topo Chico (about 1/2 cup).

I cut the lime juice in half, still too much for me so added more tequila and Topo Chico!
I must say Topo Chico seems like a quality product

glen it is quality, but its expensive. There are much cheaper alternatives to it thst don’t affect the quality or flavor of the drink at all.

No posts in a while here, did everyone sober up? Chef is wanting to know everyones favorite tequila? I’m not a huge tequila drinker, but I have fallen in love with Ranch Waters, and the tequila i have been using for it is:

Tex_77 drank tequila straight in my youth and achieved the desired results. Gave up margaritas a few years ago when I started counting calories. Stinks because now a burger place on town sells good ones our the drive thru windows

Departing Contestant Being from New Orleans, one NEVER left the bar or club without a ‘GO CUP’. I remember when a good friend an I moved my belonging to University of Alabama for Chem Eng grad school. After we unloaded, we went to the "strip’ to have a few (well, several) drinks. When they called last call, we did what every good New Orleans boy did, we got a drink to go. After walking about 1/2 a block, a cop stopped us. Asked what we were doing, Told him the bar was closing so we were going to my apartment. He asked where we were from, and we told him. He looked at us and said, that explains it. We don’t do that here, sit down and finish your drink, you cant walk around the street with one. Go figure.

Chef Yes, times have changed & sorry, but it seems for the worse some days. I remember back in the 60’s & 70’s in Florida, you could drive right up & get any mixed drink, up until I think 2:00 am. Not that I ever did it that I can recall for certain, but at least it was there if you needed it. We left for Texas in 1980 so did not keep up with the day to day after that. Things obviously got more restrictive as time went by rather than progressive. I spent a lot of time in Louisiana on assignment, more than any other place other than where we lived. Got so bad my wife was asking me if I wanted to move to Louisiana. It has now been a while since having been there for any length of time, but last I checked, they were still doing the drive up, what do you call those drinks, Huts. Amazing & always will be. Feeling for those folks down in Cameron & Calcasieu Parrish now. Feel like I need to go on down & help, but been to obligated here for now.

calldoctoday Wife and I were talking about going to aid those so devastated. I’m kind of in the middle of a project converting my pit to a mobile concession stand, adding flat top grill, convection ovens, sinks heated water system and sides that go up making awnings. There always seems to bepole of great need, and sometimes a good hot meal can make someone feel cared for. Funding has been tough, my business has fallen 80%, hope it picks up soon so I can complete this.

Yes, I have been thinking about it too, but it is hard to leave my business, especially now. I used to be able to do it, but if I leave it now, especially after we suddenly got real busy after months of not a whole lot, it probably would not recover & that is not good for the long haul. We may still be able to come up with something before it is all said & done & I certainly have got a lot of calls.

Rather surprised myself that this topic hasn’t popped up in a couple months. The way business is going I’m pretty sure no one, I repeat no one has stopped drinking! New products… Wow, wouldn’t even know where to start. Averaging 5-15 new products a week. I know bourbons have been a big topic here. A few recent that have been flying out of the warehouse.

PapaSop My 21 year old son just started working at one of the high end liquor stores here in ROC and gets to peak at the boss’s stash in the back for his VIP’s. They trained him when anyone calls asking for allocated bottles to just say NO we don’t get any! But the boss had a football party at his house and was raffling off bottles and he came home with some Weller 107! Good boy!!! I’ve been working my way through the 4 roses line.

Rather surprised myself that this topic hasn’t popped up in a couple months. The way business is going I’m pretty sure no one, I repeat no one has stopped drinking! The last couple weeks is what I’d call normal but that’s after record weeks ever since this Covid crap started back in March.

New products… Wow, wouldn’t even know where to start. Averaging 5-15 new products a week. I know bourbons have been a big topic here. A few recent that have been flying out of the warehouse.

Old Elk, Very Old St Nick, Drop Tine and Devils River.

Everything by Ole Smoky Distillers… mostly flavored products.

I could go on and on… BTW, still drinking my MGD… Yeah, I know. 😁

Parksider The bourbon world is so weird lately. In Ohio, I can get all the Weller Reserve ($25) and Weller Antique 107($49) I want. People in other states are paying up to $200 a bottle for the same stuff. It’s a great pour. But, won’t spend that much on it because there’s enough of others to taste. I won a Weller 12 and Weller CYPD in local auctions. But, have many other types of bourbon to choose from to keep the taste buds very happy. When I won the two Wellers, was offered $250 for each and turned them down because I like to share “rare” one’s (aka: special) with other bourbon buds/lifetime friends in and out of the area. That means more than the dollars. Just have some fun my foody buds.
