For lunch the wife wanted some good old grilled cheese and tomato soup. So I whipped it up for her. I used my home canned tomato juice to start the base for the soup. A little spice and some heavy cream brought it to life. I had seasoned and smoked some soup crackers for snacking, and they went great with this soup. The wife just wanted grilled cheese, but I boosted my sandwich with some shaved grilled smoked ham. The cheese in the sandwiches was smoked Pepper Jack and Baby Swiss. Quick and not approved by my cardiologist, but tasty.20210424_142259.jpg20210424_142408.jpg These are the smoked snack crackers

calldoctoday I follow a modification of Alabama Firecrackers, add a few more ingredients, and always use butter rather than oil. Also use only mini crackers, not large ones. Place that in a smoker set at a low setting. A favorite snack.

GWG8541 Well you reminded me of great comfort food of my past. Yep firing up the griddle in the morning on the patio facing East for some grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. A glass of chilled white Chablis, watching the Oklahoma sunrise reminds me “LIFE IS GOOD”. Always worse places to be, and worse things to be doing. As you, and so many of us know. It’s 1700hrs some where… Cheers, Joe
