I’ve been sand bagging these forums for a while from Beaver Dam, WI. Hog processing is starting soon so its time got get active and put the information to use. I’ve done some domestic rabbit butchering before and harvested some deer, which produced the usual products. I’m very interested in getting into traditional meat preservation.

@j_rid The one item you have on this site is “experiences” and “knowledge” from the person starting out on the journey and those that have many years into it (sounds like YOU). Welcome to learning some new tricks and imparting your knowledge to the forum. Hope you enjoy the stories, solving of problems/issues, posting of successes and failures and some good old fashioned rib jabbing. Have another good day along the journey.

Ridley Acres Welcome. Like NDMike, this is my favorite place to hang out. Might be because I’m a foodaholic. Sounds like you may have some interesting processing shares of your own, down the road.

Ridley Acres Welcome aboard & welcome to the neighborhood. I know Team Orange is really glad that you came for a stroll & so am I & many others. You will indeed enjoy each & every visit. Try making Rabbit sausage. I used to raise them a long, long time ago. Then I started cutting back & then just helping the 4H kids with them & then I went out altogether, but often times think about getting back into it. The rabbit sausage was really good & that is a great way to preserve them using a little different method than basic freezing. If you have a garden, the rabbit manure is the best there is. It is very high in nitrogen, but no/low ammonia so it does not burn the vegetables, but boy do they grow. Welcome aboard.

Ridley Acres welcome. Glad to see another Badger here. It’s a great place to be. You get to talk to a lot of great people from all over the country. Remember, Wi is the home of cheese, ol’ fashions, the packers, and the now famous PapaSop .

Lol. Don’t know about the famous part but sipping on an MGD right now. And don’t forget the Brewers, Bucks and that mighty Badger.
