GWG8541 Good thought. For those of lesser travel: “The sun is over the yardarm”
It is the appropriate time of day to begin drinking alcohol. A “yardarm” is a horizontal bar on the mast of a ship, and it is supposed that when the sun passed it at a certain time of day (around noon), sailors were allowed to drink.JoeB don’t forget us Jarheads. We were allowed to drink also. I needed to drink after some of the ships they stuck me on.

GWG8541 man… to walk your walk. Few can say been there and done that. Well Marine “Semper Fi” 25yrs in the army as a Command Sergeant Major. Never saw a Marine that wasn’t STRAC, respected, and combat ready

JoeB Thanks brother, it had its ups and downs like anything in life, but at the end of the day, I’d do it all over again.

JoeB and by the way, you don’t get to be a Command SGM by being a S bird. My respect and thanks to you sir. That is quite an accomplishment.

GWG8541 Thank you… Just remember there’s always worse places to be, and worse things to be doing. Think I’ll ck the Yardarm and see where the sun is.

I was never in the service but I think that I will carve a mini yard arm and place it under my desk light lol

thankyou all for your service with all my heart !

craigrice What a great idea…

craigrice Thank You, but it’s just who we are, and what we do. Everyone has a life story to tell, and each one is unique, and eventful… many face danger and hardship in silence. That’s just who they are, and what they do, and why they’re here

glen Well I finished my second batch of snack sticks and I will keep making them. Total cook time was 4 hours and that was because my wife bought me a new smoker and I am still learning. The sous vide cook time was 1/2 hour. So much nicer not starting the cooking at 6AM and pulling at 8PM and than cleanup. The coleman cooler was the best.
(I want to be just like Jonathon when I grow up) LOL -

GWG8541 It was a success and I am gratified because I give most of it away and enjoy people enjoying the product. I use to only make wet marinade jerky. I have tried a few Excaliber seasoning for jerky but yet have found one that wows me. I will continue to try because compared to wet marinade the Excaliber seasoning makes it affordable.

JoeB No I tried to freezer zip lock but could not get all the air out and the bags would float. I tried weighting them down but it was not working. I was in no mans land and just removed the sticks and put them directly into the water with no bag. It worked great. I took and washed the sous vide with dawn to break down the fat if there was any. Next time I have some ideas and will try the zip lock bag again.

sbtech You can add a dinner knife to the bag to help it sink. But TBH, I never bag anymore. They come out great just throwing them in.

sbtech I use both of these for SV. They work great. The sinker is stainless mail blanket, and the rack will separate 8-10 bags so they won’t touch and stay at the bottom. Inexpensive, and permanent fix for you floaties. The one great dislike of this hobby for me cleanup. Bought thru Amazon. Cheers
