Breakfast for supper??? Haven’t done this in awhile.

    IMG_20200127_171834-756x1344.jpg

Used some of the jerky loaf I made. Kinda reminded me of bacon. Fried up very nice. Tasty as well.

Joe Hell Ok, toasted rice was a MAJOR FAIL… Maybe I toasted too much, but it was not what I would call “tasty”… also, after toasting the rice required an additional 20-25% water be added during the cook process…

raider2119 I would say you way over toasted then. Did you toast/fry in oil or a dry pan? When I make mexican rice I have a little oil in the pan and toast/fry until its a very light brown, you don’t want it going to the point of turning black.

raider2119 Hopefully you didn’t rinse it first, got to toast it dry. Use real butter, a little bit goes a long ways. Use 2 cups of rice in a pot and just get it till it starts getting golden. You will need to keep an eye on it. I use Jasmine rice, it has better flavor. Depending on how you want you rice, four cups of water should make it perfect. Bring it to a boil and the simmer for 15 minutes with a lid on, watch for boil over, crack the lid a bit to prevent that.

Tex_77 I toasted the rice in the oven… mixed about a cup of white rice with about 2.5 Tbs of veggie oil then spread on a pan and set in the oven at 350 till the majority of the rice was lightly browned, random pieces were darker…

Then tossed the rice in the Instant Pot with a cup of water… apparently more water is necessary when toasting the rice…
