Here’s a Moonshine we were sipping on (including Homemade Slivovitz) when smoking some cheese. Day drinking taken to a new level.

Today is Armed Forces day, and Monday 30 May 2022 will be Memorial Day. I am posting this for all who served, and remembering those that never had the opportunity to take off their uniform.
      “A Soldier”
I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go. And did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing, and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness, should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear, and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment’s love.
I have cried, pained, and hoped, but most of all I have lived times others would say were best forgotten.
At least someday I will be able to say I was proud of what I was…

JoeB Well said brother. I love that poem. It always brings to mind Teddy Roosevelt’s “Man in the Arena” speech. Memorial day definitely takes on a new meaning the moment you bury a brother or sister in arms.

GWG8541 the rifle salute and taps at gravesite brings a whole different set of emotions nowadays also. The TR man in the arena is one of my favorites, I think it was a first for the poem from JoeB .

A new one before I hit the road again. Notice the safety seal at the top. It was a mad dash to my skateboard once I dodged security, LOL. Told the cashier 3X about it. Smooth drink with a sweet finish and a light burn.

One of my favorite wines, I like tasting the bourbon on the back end.

Our kids were home this weekend and we tasted a lot of whisky over the last three days. All a little different, most very tasty and only one, the last pictured, that I would not recommend at all.

The first is my newest favorite scotch. I keep my eyes open for it because it seems a little hard to find.

Another my son brought, a good peaty pour. Would do this one again.

One last pour in this bottle that my son saved for me to try. Very light colored and flavored, but good.

This was very tasty and a good value at $37 at Costco.

This one is a velvety smooth pour with no peat or smokiness but a lot of other subtle flavors.

We all tried to like this last one, but it was just too rough for any of us.

I pick up a bottle of the JD bonded and was pleasantly surprised on the smoothness on this one. Its probably one of my favorite Jack pours. It has a sweet caramel flavor on the front end and a hint of rye on the finish. It was a great surprise after a tough day at work.
