How do you store your grinder plates and knives so they stay together as paired? I use butchers twine, but thought there has to be a better way, so is there a better way? I don’t like plastic bags since moisture can get trapped inside and cause corrosion. Thought about vacuum sealing them which could work, what do you think?

mrobisr I use string as well, on plate and knife goes back on the grinder, the others get put in the tray of the grinder.

I use Ziploc snack bags. I let them dry overnight before putting them in bags. No issues.

I put them together in a container just large enough and cover them in mineral oil for longer storage. If using again soon, I’ll just spray with a bit of silicone or oil and keep them in the grinder tray

I put rice in a zip lock bag and put my knives and plates in the center of the rice so no moisture will get to them . I have been doing this for years and have never had a problem with the humidty.

This is the same thing that I do with my grinder plates and knives.

mrobisr I store them individually in storage bags after spraying them with food grade silicone first once they are fully dry after cleaning. Of course one set, usually the 3/8" on the beast & 1/8" on the little guy stay on the machines.

PapaSop No issues with using that type of spray either. Read about using the spray about 2 years ago and been happy since. I thank all for the life hacks.

Does this mean I should quit using WD-40 when storing my knives and plates?!😉

processhead The only reason I used food level “WD40” is it’s closer to me after washing/drying the pieces/parts. There’s no reason you can’t use WD40 because I always wash the parts before each grind to make sure there’s no germ issues when I grind. I’m smiling with you.

I use zip lock bags with the silicone packs in them after they are dry.
Bread ties are a great idea too to keep them still when they are moved in the drawer but still, in a bag…

I’d rather be sit’in in a boat and thinking about God,
Than sit’n in church and thinking about fish’in!
