zbigjeff thanks, I had not had an appetite during the first 3 days or so and ate a few crackers to coat the stomach for some prescriptions. One of the first things I tried when I felt well enough to eat was my favorite pizza place here in town. It’s a family owned place and soul food to me, since I grew up on it. My family has been great keeping me taken care of and delivered it to the bedroom door. The pizza looked great, it was hard to smell but smelled fine. I took a bite and about cried. The pizza I have eaten since a kid and the only purchased pizza my parents would buy, tasted horrible. No lie, I was mortified. I was expecting a boost from this great pie of nutrition and got just the opposite. The best description I can give is it was like a bite of straight salt with a dollop of grease.
So know I’m thinking what next??, Whiskey, beer? I know there are some claiming their taste buds have not recovered. This would really be unimaginable. Im hoping this is temporary.
Buy the way, I do not recommend this diet plan. Lost 8 pounds the first 4 days and made sure I stayed hydrated.

GWG8541 I’m glad you are on the mend. When I had Covid back in 2020 my taste was affected but not smell. Everything tasted salty to me with the exception of water. Water tasted like it had a bunch of sugar in it. Weirdest thing ever. I have since had the new omicron variant and that was like a cold with no side effects of taste or smell.

glen zbigjeff On the Mellow Corn…i don’t know that I have tasted a finer corn whiskey at that price. Good flavor, not much burn, which is surprising for the price and proof. If you find it, get a bottle or 2 it won’t disappoint. Even the wife agreed it was good.

Dr_Pain For me, most of the wheated bourbons are smoother than ryes with some exceptions. As a wine maker told me long ago: there’s a reason we are blessed with having 100’s of different wines and distilled spirits on the shelves. Just have fun with it.

A friend of mine brought me a bottle of Sixty Men. Very smooth with a little heat, even the wife will sip on it. Unfortunately, I looked it up and it’s only available in Texas, the Denton area. Today when we were at Sam’s Club I saw Members Mark Small Batch Bourbon for the first time. I figured for $18.98 it was worth a try. Not bad very smooth and will make a good sipper. 90 Proof and made for SC by Bartons1792 Distillery, Bardstown, KY. I would give it a 7 on a scale of 10. Good taste at a great $$. Worth a try.IMG_1106.jpg

Bob Stehlik Holly cow Sam’s Club bourbon. Our Sam’s do not sell liquor, just beer and wine. Never had either of those, but 1792 is pretty good and Barton’s puts out some other good products. I’ll have to stop and pick one up when I’m out of state at a Sam’s with a liquor store. A good friend just retired from the Corps and now lives in Texas. Ill have to put an order in for the Texas whiskey the next time he heads this way.
