What did everyone cook today?

RON PARRISH That is what the Poles call gołąbki, it means little pigeons, stuffed cabbage leaves in a sauce.
YooperDog like pigs in a blanket
-
YooperDog we have been in the single digits below at night here in Maine but that is just to cold
craigrice The dog and I weren’t to interested in doing a long walk before I left, it was pretty brutal.
-
I have a 4.5 lb little mexican dog that wants out on the deck then wants in and shivers with a coat on lol

Something pretty simple. I slow cooker a venison neck roast, shredded the meat and made hot Italian sandwiches for dinner.

-
My first meal cooking it myself since getting COVID last week. Some beef fillet in the carbon steel, a few shrimp and a baked sweet potatoe. Easy, but delicious. As you can see from the screen shot, I was watching Jonathon doing the livestream while trying to cook.

Had a need to process aged cherry and roma tomatoes. So, I roasted 3 lbs of tomatoes, red pepper, carrots, onions and celery with the normal herbs of basil, oregano, thyme, s&p and 5 cloves of garlic. Used another tool (Vitamix) to puree all materials. Just had to accompany this soup with a grilled cheese sandwich.

zbigjeff I just ate and that makes me hungry.

GWG8541 I think several of us were cooking while Jonathan was playing, your dinner looks great. I had a Costco chicken, with orzo and carrots.

zbigjeff That looks wonderful & soul satisfying on a cold night. You can’t get much better than your own mater soup & cheese samwich, just a dab of sour cream.

YooperDog Whew that looks good, you keep that up though, you are going to have to take a longer walk.

GWG8541 Now that will put some much needed iron in your blood! Glad to hear you are doing better.

zbigjeff Vacuum marinated for 4 hours. Sous Vide at 122 for 3 hours. Seared it with a seerzall. Then, accompanied it with sautéed mushrooms, onions and broccoli and seasoned it with the butter/garlic sprinkles. Summary: I really liked the dry marinate of hatch chili with citrus. Just enough kick to let you know it’s there. But, not overpowered. Success!

zbigjeff That looks just right…

calldoctoday I think the best way to cook up a neck roast is in a slow cooker. Very little waste and you get a good broth.

YooperDog Tender & savory. Do you add a bottle of dark beer to yours & some beef bone broth or just the venison & spices?

calldoctoday I have done beer, wine and beef broth. It depends what I am in the mood for, this one was broth some veggies, dried mushrooms, and spices. Browned up, cooked until tender. Remove the roast, shred the meat, strain the broth and adjust flavor.
-
GWG8541 my wife has been a low salt person all her life I am the other way but have gotten use to it
craigrice My wife and I cut most of the salt out and now I am sensitive to salt. Can’t hardly eat regular sunflower seeds, I always look for low sodium.

Dr_Pain So glad you’re recovered enough to get back to processing. Jerky looks tasty for sure.
