All of the talk earlier today about a Old Fashions got me motivated. First a few pics of some Christmas gift sets.

If you haven’t tried them, these Woodford cherries are awesome, especially on top of an Old Fashioned. Slainte

Did anyone try an old-fashioned with olives instead of cherries? That’s what was in the premade mix we had. I say premade but it was hand made but the lady who donated the whiskey. I am going to have a few tonight.

Jonathon Not an olive fan in my old fashioned. Olives have their place, just not in there. I know that there is places that serve them that way but would be tough to find in the Northwoods. Like asking for ketchup for your brat in Chicago at a major league game. It wouldn’t be prudent.

It is supposed to be in the negative double digits tonight. Decided to pull out a bottle of some German schnapps, this one is pretty clean tasting, most are an acquired taste. It will warm you up.

YooperDog you’ve peaked my interest. Last schnapps I had was DeKuyper peach schnapps a loooong time ago. Is that like a brandy?

Surg Yes. Not like the typical US schnapps, sweet and syrupy. You can taste the essence of the pear in this one, but it is clean and light. I found a distillery in Milwaukee, WI, I think called Great Lakes Distillery that makes a pretty comparable one. But the other fruits I only found in Germany. I have been real slow in using up some of my liquors from when I was stationed overseas. Can’t find many of them over here.

I gifted my last bottle of Thai whisky to a Thai friend, I sure wish I had one bottle of that left. Nothing fancy but it was unique, I think it was called Mekong.

zbigjeff personally I think they are better. Not an overwhelming bourbon taste at all. I will try to find out where they picked them up. My God son gave them to me.at Christmas.

calldoctoday that sounds like a good combo. My only problem is I left my cider on the porch to cool down and discoverered it froze, so I’m waiting for the big thaw. An Irish coffee may be a substitute tonight.

zbigjeff can you keep the cold weather up in the north part of the state. I went out for muzzleloader yesterday and man was it cold. Setting outside in the teens used to be OK, but the bones seem to get colder as I get older.

calldoctoday that sounds like a good combo. My only problem is I left my cider on the porch to cool down and discoverered it froze, so I’m waiting for the big thaw. An Irish coffee may be a substitute tonight.

GWG8541 There you go. My son heats it up a bit & it goes down real nice. Feels good when working up in this cold office.

An underrated beer, for some reason always in short supply at my local grocer.
