My first attempt at a charcuterie. I can’t take credit for the meat.

Prime rib cooked on Treager at 275 until 118, pulled and rested under foil for 30 minutes, temp came up to 126 with carryover cooking, then back on the pit on high for 10 minutes. Always remember to account for carryover cooking.

Well… We all got together today. Parents, brothers, sons, wives and grandkids. 18lbs of meat didn’t stand a chance.

Making ham and potato soup today. It’s cold here, snowing and I made a mistake and plowed the driveway and complex early this morning thinking this stuff was done. I was so wrong, a bit of sunshine doesn’t mean a thing apparently today because it dumped another four inches on top of the cleaned off surfaces. Be aware, we don’t get a lot of snow here in Western Washington, our usually comes melted but cold. Guess I will be out again later today with the quad and plow if it stops. If you are wondering why I need to plow, it’s a 30’ elevation change from the garage to the top of the hill.IMG_0271.JPG IMG_0270.JPG

johnsbrewhouse Wow, be careful of you go back out today as it is getting late & it looks cold. Weird weather. In the 70’s & even 80’s here & super high humidity. We have not had one freeze here yet & usually have had several by this time. Still getting eggplants, peppers, squash, even a tomato plant still going along with lots of Marigolds & Nasturtiums. Be careful out there.

I got lucky this year & did not cook the whole dinner for the most part in over 45 years. My oldest son’s wife’s mother took care of most all of it & she did a fantastic job. I really appreciated it as we have been swamped all of the sudden this year & working today. Just about should have been working yesterday, so will work till late tonight. Had to do something though.Christmas 2021 Honey Glazed Parsnips, Carrots, Peppers, with Bacon Bits I, Re-Sized.jpg So, made up something quick with honey glazed Parsnips & Carrots with Poblano & Ancho bits & a citrusy, buttery, honey glaze, topped off with bacon bits. Was not doing much as I slacked for the day so had to include multiple ingredients that make everything better.

johnsbrewhouse Have FUN with the snow. My time is coming very soon. When it starts whipping across the great lakes, veterans just put another log on the fire and grab their fav liquid refeshment.

johnsbrewhouse Well, you got a freak snow, I got a manhunt. I am up here trying to get all this work done & apparently someone stole a truck & a trailer & got caught & decided to ditch it right next to our property & hit the woods. Now they are having a shootout in the woods. Its not supposed to be like that out here. Looks like I need to be moving on for more elbow room.

I opened my mouth too soon, wasn’t like this a half hour ago when I laid down in bed for the night, thought I heard someone spinning so got up to check it out.

twilliams Apparently they got one of the perps in custody according to the latest report, but now think there may be another out there. We are not getting a whole lot of detailed information as we have in years past whenever this sort of thing has happened.

calldoctoday Keep your head on a swivel and hoping everything turns out well. Went out at 4:30 PM and plowed the driveway again along with the complex roadway, it’s about 3/4 mile plus 2 gates. The neighbor up the road brings his tractor out as well to push the icebergs I create. I can plow more snow with the quad and plow than with the tractor. I also plowed the neighbors driveway, he’s 90 and has a long driveway to his house down a hill. Got to look out from him. Will do some of the other neighbors tomorrow. Got cold, it was 24 degrees and the wind chill was who knows what going at 15 mph and into a headwind and snow in cover my lap and legs from blowing over the plow. The soup turned out great, no pictures though, to busy getting the warmth in.

johnsbrewhouse Glad you made it back in OK & real good what you are doing. I used to help out like that at one place we lived, but not near like what you are doing out in the driving snow & cold. Glad you made it back in OK. Soak up that warm. No more updates yet.
