I cant believe this. I offered the guy 300 for a 5000 slicer. He said ok. Went over to pick it up and it didnt spin the blade but the controls lit up. I’ve got a guy, so I took it. Got it home and saw the carriage was not set to zero. Closed it and everything works. Now to clean sanitize and lubricate. Got to buy a cart cause it weighs 100lbs or more.Screenshot_20211213-132144_Chrome.jpg

All degreased, re-oiled, sanitized, and sharpened. Also got a new set of shoes. What better trial run than a freshly smoked slab of home cured bacon.

RafterW thanks I must have been trolling for three months on offer up and FB market looking for a great deal. Saw this and eventhough is got to weigh 100 lbs it’s worth it. This weekend I will go through the whole thing and clean/sanitize everything.

A rolling cart is ideal. Then you can tuck it away till its needed and hopefully not have to worry about lifting it around very often.

samspade You need something like that old microwave cart I built about 40 years ago for my wife & is still rolling. I need to make a rolling island now, as soon as I can get caught up on the gazillion other things that need doing even more so.

a buddy of mine is a scraper, he’s always hauling home interesting stuff. He has a big Hobart grinder and slicer. I have been trying to buy them from him, but if I do get them, I would have to set them up somewhere and leave them. Way to heavy to move around

Its patience and setting a limit you wont go over. Just wait someone somewhere bought more than they need and will have to get rid of it.
