JohnG5 The cheese stuffed burger is like “The Juicy Lucey” that’s popular up in the Duluth-Superior area.

Growing up, our local greasy spoon diner had something called a double breaded cheeseburger. It was a double cheeseburger that was breaded and deep fried. The football team would all go over there after a home game and oh man that hit the spot. You had to poke the side and let the grease run out and cool down a bit otherwise you’d burn you mouth.

Bob Stehlik I think the Juicy Lucy was first created in MSP/SP area. There are two places that claim the invention, Matt’s Bar and grill and the 5-8 Club. I favor Matt’s Bar. I was stationed at Duluth many years ago and lived in Superior. I didn’t know the history back then just thought it was just a different way to make a cheese burger.

bocephus It is a bit of a dive bar, nothing fancy ambiance. It’s been a few years for me, but I remember standing in line to get in during their peak times. The 5-8 club history is of a speak easy. My wife and boy’s preferred Matt’s

Cut up pepperoni and bacon bits and mix with ground beef and pork, as well as Walton’s Ultimate Steak and Roast Rub.

JohnG5 What a great looking burger. There’s a small bar about 40 miles from here that used to have a Juicy Lucy on their menu. They were messy but I ate a bunch of them. Might need to go back and see if they still send them.
