Pork Belly Prices...

Put two 5 lb. bellies into brines today. I didn’t realize they had been sitting so long in in the bottom of the chest freezer. They held up well since they were vacuum seal from the factory and at the very bottom. Made a maple sugar cured and a corned cure bacon. The corned one will end up a a pastrami bacon. I’ll lull them November 15 and put the smoke to both just before I have to head for Vegas for a conference for a couple of days. I still have 15 lbs. of bellies left in the freezer bank.

Dr_Pain There will be pictures in 14 days when they come out of the brine and hit the smoker my friend. Meanwhile you just have to salivate and let those images run around your mind thinking of things to come, LOL.

Ok, so. Been all over town today and called a few out of town. Lowest price I found was $4.49lb. Local Sam’s no longer carry bellies. All the butcher shops were at $4.99. May just pick up a few pounds just because I want to try my own bacon.
Anyway, putting in a Walton’s order today. Going to get the dry rub cure and a couple hangers. -

Here is the price at my Costco, looks like prices are pretty much the same as what everyone else is seeing; $4.39/lb.
