Got home yesterday and found these brown honey mushrooms on my tree in front yard!Very tasty!RON PARRISH nice looking 'shrooms. I am drying two grocery bags full of wine cap from my little patch. Growing up 'shrooms were almost like a condiment.

Tomatoes and green beans blooming, Peppers a little behind and Hatch peppers still little as my seeds came late but they like it hot anyway. Love those dehydrated tomatoes they last all winter.I haven’t had a garden in a couple of years, but every year on the full moon in August, my chef son and I pick prickly pears. We make jelly, prickly pear lemonade, prickly pear confit, prickly pear jello, and a few other goodies. We did the confit in a sous vide this year, and it turned out amazing (we added lemons). My little garden had 40 herbs in it as well as many vegetables. I used rabbit manure, but I also used fermented plant juice and I captured indigenous microorganisms. I double dug my beds and used the biodynamic French-intensive method so as soon as a hole in the garden was vacated, it had something else planted there immediately. Can’t wait to own land again.

Rabbit Manure is the best & your garden shows. Unfortunately it is getting hard to come by of late (you do not want to hear the horror stories). I may have to go back to raising them again, just for the manure, if I can get Margaret to buy in on it again.

Does she not like the meat? I raised rabbits too for a while (but I brought truck loads in from a local rabbitry). Back then, a few years ago, none of my family would eat rabbit until I made “chicken pot pie” with rabbit! Anyway, I’ll bet you could sell them. In Austin, Texas, when you can find them, they are expensive! If I could afford them I would fill my freezer with them.

Warrenlc57 Oh yes, she actually likes Rabbit. We raised them & had a lot of them, (truckloads of home grown manure) back in the 80s when we were in Texas. We did a whole lot of other things that were not so cool back then, that have now become very popular. However, they after many years decided for various reasons they were not so interested in eating the rabbits we raised so I scaled down, just providing them for the local 4-H kids & then eventually went out altogether. I miss them & a whole lot of other things, but on the other hand, as much more time as I should have now more than 35 years later, but still working, I cannot seem to accomplish as much, no matter how hard I try, so I have not been the real go getter to convince Margaret & perhaps myself as well. I have been thinking about it for at least the past two years since the manure has become so hard to come by, expensive, & folks that don’t do what they say they are going to do about having it or it even being available. I am really glad that you discovered how good it is.

RON PARRISH i did a three layer approach, cardboard, straw and hardwood chips.

I did that for blackberries, but it didn’t work out because of fire ants! They hid in the wood chips. I like that method very much because the wood takes time to break down and when fungal mycelium start to break it down, the ground is so soft and fertile!

Warrenlc57 wild raspberries and blackberries around our place is pretty rampant, I just let mother nature do the work. Not many fire ants up this way, lots of yellow jackets though. I used the three layfoe my mushroom patch.
