lkrfletcher that’s a nice bull!

lkrfletcher Nice bull, that like the one who thumbs his nose at me. We have 40 acres right next to us that belongs to a timber company that he roams. He’s smart, heads for the neighbors house or ravine when he thinks someone is moving or spooks the herd. He distances himself and is often in the Alders where you can’t get a shot. I took a shot a him a couple of years ago. It was more like a salute, since I could not get him to turn sideways to me and I was 400 yards out. Just let the shot off to say hi and bye.
johnsbrewhouse Amazing how smart they are.

Pivodog man that is success all the way
. It looks great
. Congrats to you. -
Going to make some Hawaiian chicken brats with pineapple and a teriyaki chicken sausage with pineapple tomorrow or Wednesday. These will be small 2.5 lb. batches to see how they will work out. If things go right, they will be part of a competition entry in September. Using the seasonings I got from Walton’s today via UPS. I think they must have found some war zone since it took six days and the box had been broken open and re-sealed. Obviously they failed to check for damage inside, when it got here everything was bread with Chicken on the Run Dust. They managed to poke a hole in the top of the bag. Didn’t lose a lot, but dust goes a long way and the dog knew something was wrong. She was on it like a drug dog on a bust. I seriously don’t know who is worst at deliveries to Washington State, FedEx or UPS.
johnsbrewhouse I’m in the same boat with you. My last order had the top knocked in and poked a hole in 2 of the 3 bags of chicken on the run. It looked like a hole bag dumped in the box but very little was missing from the bags. It was UPS that delivered mine also.

I just finished some taco stix with pepper jack

Jonathon First when you are harvesting the deer, wash out the heart very well by squeezing and relaxing the muscle as if it was pumping. stick your fingers in the holes to help loosen the coagulated blood.
Slice 1/2 to 3/4" thick horizontal and trim out the artery walls because they are extremely tough.
Season flour, dredge the slices in the seasoned flour and fry in shallow oil pan like minute steak or the like.@dennyo Love deer heart fried or baked. I sometimes stuff them and make a little gravy. Shot an elk a year and a half ago, you should have seen that heart.
-
lkrfletcher I’m so jealous. I want to go elk hunting before I’m too old
kyle Shot my first one a year and a half ago, what a great experience for someone who grew up hunting whitetail deer.

bocephus lkrfletcher I don’t think I have the wall space anywhere in my house for a mount that big. Thats a great looking bull.

bocephus I can only imagine it would be a great time. For me, just seeing the country out west would be great. Someday I WILL go, and to shoot a bull would be great, but even a cow would be tasty.

bocephus I also grew up hunting whitetails. I was lucky enough to shoot a bull elk in MT in 2018! It was a great experience and it is my favorite wild game meat! I also shot a younger mule deer buck in MT in 2016.

ND Mike It is very good meat that’s for sure. I grew up in MN hunting whitetail, also very good meat just not nearly as much.

bocephus I’ve got baby beef liver out for Sunday’s din din. Got a deer heart thawing to go with it!

@dennyo
Sounds “offally” delicious. Hehehe -
johng and I have to make 2 things this week. One is a sweet bologna that we are going to try new casings on and the other is a test for a new grinder system. Now, we could just do them both at once or we could make something cool out of the grinder test one. Anyone got a seasoning that they want to know what it is like that no one has tried yet? Cause if not we are making landjaegar sausage with Jagermeister instead of water. Someone recommended it or suggested it on a Livestream and it sounded interesting!

Jonathon enlighten us on this new grinder “system”!
