What did everyone cook today?

I cannot take credit this, but it was a tasty dinner tonight. My youngest son whipped this Korean dish up. It’s name is simplistic but describes it well. It is a spicy “hot pot”. Its a potpourri of various items and the broth is ladled back over the top during cooking. This particular one had thinly sliced beef, with sausage and kimchi dumplings. For those of you who enjoy Korean cuisine, its a great versitle dish and you can add about anything you like. It is full of broth and served in a bowl with rice on the side. ND Mike the wok is a Lodge CI and perfect for this particular dish.

T-bones from my dad’s American Dexter herd. Asparagus on the side.
After the kids get their portions, I add ground habanero to my steak.

My favorite steak method is cast iron sear on the stovetop then broil in the oven.

@matt-westerhaus How many are you cooking for? Thats a lot of food.
Steven Winscot up until about a year ago, just two. We’ve got our first little guy eating with us now so 2.5 people! We cook about 4-5 nights a week and find a new recipe every time, we live off the leftovers on the several days that we don’t cook. Some of those cooks are when we were entertaining guests though, usually the pizzas and the schnitzel.

Done! Thanks all for looking and for getting caught up. Sorry to anyone at the waltons tech team in advance, incase my photodump overloaded things!!!

twilliams It just takes time and practice, a lot of the stuff I cook isn’t hard to make, just patience and not being scared to try something.

RON PARRISH twilliams I agree with HerbcoFood , it takes some time and practice. My wife and I have been cooking together nearly every day for the past 5 years. I recently upgraded to an iPhone11 with the portrait mode and that takes killer plated pictures very easily. This cook was a solo cook that I made for my wife and I for Valentines day this year. I watch a ton of youtube channels on cooking and found this recipe that I wanted to replicate. It came out really well. I’ll see if I can post the original video that I sourced it from as well. The meal was three courses, the starter was simple toast with a ricotta spread, topped with pan-seared tomato and garlic with an olive oil drizzle. Main dish was a stuffed chicken thigh, rolled/tied then pan-seared and baked to finish cooking. The chicken medallions were plated on a bed of creamy pureed cauliflower. Desert is a baked pear on a slather of greek yogurt with a homemade caramel sauce and granola. I didn’t have regular granola so I chopped up a granola bar! Whatever works! Joshua Weissman was the original creator that I followed for the recipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU9OP776xcE&list=PL4WiRZw8bmXt9q1_5MhZWqfhIdFg3eINH&index=30

@matt-westerhaus My brother actually got me some small lights to help elevate my photos, I just use my phone as well. I got them this past Christmas, so you can look at my pics from January forward of this year and tell a big difference from prior.
https://www.instagram.com/herbcofood/These are the lights he got me: EMART 60 LED Continuous Portable Photography Lighting Kit for Table Top Photo Video Studio Light Lamp with Color Filters - 2 Packs, they are on Amazon, the link shortcut isn’t working for me…user error.

We’ve got mulitple people on here who could probably walk into many restaurants and outcook or at least compete with the chefs! I am NOT one of those people. if we want to open a Sausage Restaurant I’d be in the competition but when it comes to other things I’d probably have circles run around me!
twilliams I am with you, when we have friends over and I cook something for everyone I get to feeling pretty confident about my skills then I come to this post and get my ego deflated again!

HerbcoFood I haven’t messed around with the lighting yet, usually by the time I’m finished cooking I just want to snap a quick picture and dig in! Thank you for the resource though, I’ll check out your posts and those lighting options.
