Nice little arsenal you got there. Almost picked up a bottle of that uncle nearest the other day. Have you had it yet? Is it any good?Surg Uncle Nearest is very good. The one pictured is 93 proof and they have another that’s 100 proof. I know some other Meatgistics users have had it and haven’t heard of any complaints!

GWG8541 Replenished the Arsenal today. The wife has accused me of ignoring her and that I should seek Redemption. Well, I found it in the bourbon aisle! If you guys have never tried Redemption High Rye Bourbon, give it a try, mellow and smooth. It’s been a favorite of mine for years. They also have a small batch (blue label) but they were out of it today. Also picked up the Evan Williams favorites of mine. Weller is still more rare than hen’s teeth around here. Hope you all have a great 4th. Stay safe and eat well!

Bob Stehlik thats a great resupply. I’ve only had Redemption once. It was at a friend’s. Im not a huge rye fan, but it was good. I love the EGA in the background. Surg Uncle Nearest is a smooth Tennessee sour mash. If you haven’t heard the back story, he taught a young Jack Daniels how to distill whiskey. I have attached a video from their website, which is pretty cool. I knew about the story years ago from taking the tour at Jack Daniels. Its a neat piece of American history. https://vimeo.com/325286687

GWG8541 Yep, both Redemption and Uncle Nearest doesn’t suck. Enjoy your arsenal.

Bob Stehlik looks like a lot of ol’ fashions in your future…or wait, maybe that’s just a Wisconsin thing
kyle definitely not a Wisconsin thing, but that stash is too good to mix. That is all high quality H2O. Its meant to be straight up or on a rock or two.

zbigjeff How’s the recovery/rehab going? Hope you’re getting your mobility and range of motion back. Hopefully you’re off the meds and can imbibe a bit over the 4th.

Bob Stehlik Going? I step at a time behind the walker. Have 1.5 weeks left before I make first visit to surgeon. Healing is boring. Getting better each day. Meds: Off of them for 1 day. Darn it, you were reading my mind. It will taste very good with some fellow bourbonites. Just have to keep it slow. Will have a bit of some Weller while reading a book called “Pappyland”. What a great insight into the bourbon industry. Daughter gave it to me for “father’s day”. She was thinking properly.

GWG8541 for the finest final product, use the finest ingredients. My brother drinks high dollar stuff, he only uses frozen cubes that look like rocks, not ice cubes because he doesn’t want to water it down.

I use a round ball ice mold. Those large balls actually work and can last for multiple drinks (my wife says that’s because I drink them too fast)

I am going to be experimenting here soon with a mixture of: Western Son Prickly Pear Vodka, Ghost Tequila, Mineral water and lime, I know it will be good, it will be trying to nail down the perfect mixture of sweet to heat. At the end of the day I will be in a great mood no matter how long it takes to figure out my ratios.
-
Jonathon s request, please list your drink of choice. I’ll start, I love bourbon and Coors Light or a good old Coors yellow belly. My bourbons of choice are Elijah Craig, Bulliet, Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam Black and W.L. Wellers. Now if I just want to pound down some drinks a good 7&7 can’t be beat.

I just picked up a bottle of Ardbeg. I’ve been wanting to try it for quite some time. This one came with a free mini bbq smoker so I couldn’t resist!

Joe Hell If you like boggy and smokey, that’s a huge hit. One of my female buds introduced me to that brand. I was astonished that she drank it. But, glad she introduced me to it. Enjoy!!!

Love Ardbeg 10. The 5 (Wee Beastie)was decent for the price. Haven’t tried any of the others yet but will eventually. Especially if I see one with a smoker tube, that is awesome. Enjoy! -

glen I use the large round ice also. I saw a commercial where an ice maker actually makes them. However, the wife has informed me that we are not getting a new fridge, just for the whiskey ice. kyle I have contemplated picking up those whiskey rocks. Are they worth it? I’m alot like glen, I get several drinks per ice sphere. Were not drinking to fast, were conserving water.
