Smoked Chicken wings & quarters coming down today with a big pot of butter beans (Jackson wonders, the big ones) dried from last year’s garden. No such for this year as I was not too smart & decided to let the garden go fallow before the corona business hit. Oh, Persimmon bread for desert from some of last year’s persimmons pureed. For some odd reason we got no persimmons this winter, weird.

I spoiled myself with a braised ‘airline’ cut chicken breast (boneless skin-on breast with attached wing drumette) and served over a bed of fresh pasta from Passatempo Taverna, Lions Mane Mushrooms, Cauliflower and Castoldi Farms Asparagus.

Joe Hell Now Joe, that looks GOOD! Everyone liked the looks of that chicken. If it tastes half as good as it looks, it is good!

Tex_77 You All are driving me wild tonight! Shoulda had some of those home fries & corn dodgers to go with them fish, though! It looks real good.
I don’t know if I can wait for them smoked wings & quarters though now looking at all this!

Tex_77 Are those the product of your fishing outing? You can’t find good fresh catfish this far north. Looks like you need a glass of cold tea. Looking forward to my next trip to the South, until then your picture will have to suffice.

YooperDog The mushrooms were fantastic! I’ve had dried lions mane but never fresh. A local grower will bring a selection of oyster mushrooms and now the lions mane to the meat shop and we trade goods. It works out well for both parties!

Joe Hell I like bartering. We have a couple of local farmers up here that grow several varieties of mushrooms. Weather is finally changing up here, morel’s should be popping up soon.

YooperDog Morels are coming off here but I haven’t had a chance to make a trip. It’s pretty competitive for picking around here and I suspect with many folks having extra spare time that it is pretty well picked over in accessible areas. Next week at the shop we start distributing produce for a local farm and we get the spoils. The only thing I need to go to the store for these days is TP…too bad that’s still impossible to find. Lol

Joe Hell Where’s that old Sears and Roebucks catalog when you need it. LOL Shelves here are filling up slowly, might not have your favorite brand. Some cleaning supplies are scarce. Meat choices are shrinking but available. I drive now to my ‘local’ butcher 100+ miles away with more selections since he had a kill floor. Also, we have a small selection of farmers that market right from the farm.

I need to go on a Catfishing expedition & use up some of this cat bait in the freezer. Young man I sold my Jeep to puts fish traps out into the pond out in the woods & uses those small bream to catch huge cats down by the dam. I like em more pan size though. Need to put all my jug inventions & lines to work & catch up a mess. A mess of Crappie would be even better though. When my Dad was alive & I would fry them up, he would stand there & snack. They were like candy & could not even hardly get them to the table. Those were the days!
