Steak Seasoning
-
I didn’t take a picture of it, and I completely regret that now, so this post will be just boring words…
I made steak last night and ran out of our Walton’s Ultimate after seasoning 1 steak. Searched my seasoning shakers and decided I would try the new Firecracker Rub on another steak, with a hint of Butter Garlic. Just a light dusty of butter garlic, then caked on some firecracker rub. Pretty thick layer since it is not super heavy in salt.
Steak turned out amazing. Not as good as Walton’s Ultimate, but the spicy ranch flavor on steak was something I will definitely repeat occasionally.
Next time, might do a base of Walton’s Ultimate, and then add a dusting of the firecracker for just a hint of spice.
Austin It’s wonderful that many of us keep trying to ramp it up a bit. Everyone including ourselves benefit with that thought and effort.

Tex_77 I like that one, but struggle with the low saltiness… I love firecracker so much, I had to give that a shot this time though.
zbigjeff Collaboration and getting/sharing ideas is fun and a lot easier than doing it all alone. I “steal” ideas from others here all the time, so I try to share new ideas and things that work out for me. Still mad I didn’t get a picture though because the way the seasoning cooked into the steak made a super pretty picture. Sharing is always much better with pictures!

Austin Surely you have a salt block on your counter you could have chipped some salt off of to add to it…I do agree it is lacking in the salt department, but not everyone probably likes salt as much as we do.

Tex_77 Lol Salt is literally a whole section of my food groups and food pyramid! haha!

Tex_77 Hey at least American cheese was used!

HerbcoFood Tex_77 Wow, that is great! Can’t even call that American Cheese. Is it American Cheese-like product. I really dislike “American cheese”

Austin It does make a pretty decent grilled cheese as it burns the top of your mouth because you were so excited as a kid to eat it!

Tex_77 man o man that is so wrong, I am certain that there is some back-woods indigent tribe that would appreciate that mess. But no civilized race!

Austin I normally bring out the old pad and write “take pictures you fool” in full preview as a reminder. Keep up the good work.

Austin after seeing all the post and video about Firecracker rub, I bought some thinking how good can it really be. Man that stuff is a great all around seasoning, especially if you are just wanting to add a little heat.

GWG8541 I agree whole heartedly. We’ve mixed it with COR for fish, chicken thighs, steamed cauliflower or on a salad. “That S**ts good on everything!!”.
