Has anyone ever replanted strawberries? My wife and I made the mistake of planting strawberries in the same little patch as my sugar snap peas and they are both expanding at alarming rates. We were thinking of letting it just ride out this year and fixing it next but its getting a little ridiculous.

Jonathon Yes, we have planted a patch before & they did OK. Then we started planting them in the tops of rain barrels & it was nice. But THEN, they hopped out of the rain barrels & into the foundation beds, with all the pine straw, & took off. So now we have them as ground cover so to say, making there way through the foundation beds. It is a near perfect environment & berries fairly regularly. I don’t know why I never thought of it until it hit me in the face looking out the bathroom window into one of the foundation beds…

This weekend I dug 1/2 of my potatoes and pulled 1/2 of my onions. They both turned out really good. I’ve been enjoying my carrots and cucumbers but the problem is now the lettuce and spinach is burned up. I guess you can’t have it all. Good luck to the rest of you gardeners. 20220618_160444.jpg

Im tooembarassed to show you guys what mine looks like now BUT I have sugar snap peas coming in nicely, have gotten about a dozen of the best strawberries ever and we have some broccoli, squash, zucchini and some basil and mint coming in really nicely. Can’t wait till next year, we will be expanding this operation dramatically and since my wife is involved we will actually learn from our mistakes!

I picked about a quart of raspberries, both red and black early this morning. I tossed a few handfuls on some oatmeal for breakfast. 20220620_150123.jpg

cdavis That is a nice haul. I decided long ago having to dig for a crop wasn’t worth the effort I’d just go to the store and buy them.

We just have strawberries coming in, they are very late this year with the weather and lack of warmth. Suppose to be near 80 by Friday but I’m not holding my breath.

GWG8541 these are some of biggest I’ve ever grown. Several are the size of my daughter’s softball. They are really sweet also. It’s the first time I’ve planted California Sweets 😋.
