21st Anniversary. Wife said she would rather eat my cooking at home, so I cancelled the steakhouse and got cooking!

Tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, avocado in balsamic vinegar and olive oil
    20220526_205209.jpg

Scallops, seared with a brown butter dill gewurtztraminer deglaze reduction.
With my own cold smoked salmon.20220526_205201.jpg

NY Strip steak, with grilled zucchini and asparagus, sauteed green beans, and rosemary roasted red potatoes. With bernaise sauce. Steak was sous vide to 128 then hickory smoked at 150 then reverse seared.
    20220526_205205.jpg
All served with a cabernet sauvignon. I even remembered to get flowers and card!

Been busier than a one arm paper hanger these last three months. Just cooked up a 22+lb turkey a couple of days ago. No pics. That is a lot of for two folks so I decided to cook up some turkey pot pies and give them away. I still have enough filling left for another. Egg wash glaze with with a sprinkle of flaked sea salt.

Here is a little Bourbon Cherry Wine smoked Ham with Brussel Sprouts stir fried in the WOC with bacon bits & good olive oil. Then there is a Mediterranean Salad with peppers, olives, garlic, artichokes, maters, & mushrooms drowned in good olive oil & balsamic vinegar & seasoned with Walton’s Greek Seasoning. I would call that deesert for dinner. Injected the cherry juice brine with bourbon & a little red wind into the ham. Smoked the ham with Cherry wood & Wine barrel staves.Bourbon Cherry Wine Ham with Brussel Sprouts in the WOC & Medeteranian Salad I.jpg Then of course, maybe the deesert should be Andy’s French Baguettes with sweet salted good butter.French Baguettes.jpg

Dave in AZ Thank you, we really appreciate that. Andy’s bread is always good & better than the store. The Med salad was excellent.

gus4416 Thank you, we really appreciate it. The sprouts were fantastic, steamed just a little in advance then tossed in the wok with hot good olive oil, a little butter, fresh bacon cut up in small squares, & a few spices & a little salt to bring the excellent flavor out.

zbigjeff Thank you, we really appreciate it. Yes, yet another small gathering & a few more days to boot. Can’t cook like that in these days & times for just one meal at a time, gotta think about the future just a little.
