Nice find

Here is my most recent great find. A 60” American Range unit. Double oven, 6 burner, griddle top and broiler below. This will be an excellent addition to my shop kitchen build. The lady bought it new and only used it to can on. Griddle and oven have never been used. $500 out the door.

RafterW pretty amazing find, that will serve you well!

RafterW Now that is a fantastic find, even if you have to do a little bit of work. At least it should be simple, high quality, & available parts. I would just about give my left arm to find something like that to replace this high dollar piece of junk we made the mistake of buying. The only problem is we do not have gas & would have to bring in propane, which I used to be against, so continued to resolve against our desires to keep all electric. Just be careful as to the finishes, etc. in the area you use it & clearances so that they are flame & heat resistant. Those units can put out some serious heat when called upon. If all goes like I hope it will, you will have an oven for life. Let us know how it all goes.
calldoctoday when you start cooking with gas you will not want electric ever again !

Craig Rice I agree, 110%. When we bought this place to restore, we were assured gas was available right across the street. We had the same experience before when we were in Texas, but I was still able to bring it in & could afford to even add the neighbors as a show of good will. Here, we could only afford ourselves, but they would not bring it in, so we were stuck with all electric. Then I set out to find a decent 40" range similar to what we used to have & sold the gas dryer. The range we ended up with is the biggest overpriced hunk of junk I have ever seen. I am shocked there was not some sort of recall on it, but that is what you get from the, sadly to say, Modern Day Sears & Roebuck, Kenmore Elite. I am tempted to sell the place & build another smaller, more like what we used to have, place, but either way, it would like mean bringing in Propane & Margaret is tired of moving, etc. We have been hear 20 years now pretty much. I did not like propane compared to natural gas & figured we would be ok with the electric, even though we preferred gas. Hand site is 20/20 & I’m nearly going blind.

RafterW are you getting another side gig to pay for the propane for that stove?

Craig Rice Hind Site 20/20, I probably would have just put in an underground propane tank & brought it on in, had I realized we would be so dissatisfied with this electric range. The good thing it, I could have got a 40" propane range for much less $$$ than this electric one & it likely would have performed much better, especially if I could get all gas (oven & stove) like we have always had previously, but is now harder to find. The down side is like Tex_77 said, better get a side gig just for the propane, especially here recently.

ND Mike I would have, but I’m retired.

I’ll just rent it out to Jonathon on the weekends! For real though propane is going to burn fast @32K btu/burner.

RafterW great find, you will be happy with set up. Get yourself a 500-1K lb pig and I bet that will last you at least a year before needing a refill. By us electric will run you to the poor house, no NG line for miles, we spend more for it than propane. I imagine things are different around different parts of the country.

calldoctoday it would be tough convincing me to go electric, we had it when we lived in CA and wasn’t happy with cooking with it at all. My mom lives about 100 miles south of me and was all electric and she changed her direction after her first winter and converted to propane for heating but kept it for cooking and hot water. She is not a happy camper with that range and still may change

Looks great! My uncle had a slicer and when he died I regret not taking it. We gave it away. I would love having a slicer now.

YooperDog I am with you brother, 110%. Don’t get me started today. Thought I just about had no choice on the last go round, Hind site 20/20 & pretty much going blind.

I had another great marketplace find. Picked up this 827a Berkel 12” slicer for 100 bucks. Needs a little TLC but I think it is going to be great. This is my first slicer so cleaning and lubricating it will probably teach me a lot about it. It started right up and belt and motor seem solid. It is missing the slice deflector which I am debating if I even need. Also the tray gets a little stiff as it approaches the blade. It is getting much better after I added some mineral oil to the rod that it slides on. Hope this is OK to do. Could not think of another way to lubricate the bushings. Also there is an oil hole at the end of the rod which I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with. I may need a new sharpening stone and could use new feet. But for $100 I don’t mind investing a little.
It has a Somewhat oxidized look to it, may be from something they tried to clean it with previously. Wondering if anybody has any tricks to shine it up. Was thinking maybe barkeepers friend but wasn’t sure.
