processhead That’s all my husband lol. He is very detail oriented and good at planning ahead. I’m pretty lucky he’s willing to work this hard for me. Probably not too many wives out there asking for meat shops instead of jewelry, poor guy…

My little shop is in the final stages of being built. What would you make sure to include in a dedicated processing room? What do you use the most that might be overlooked? Or what would you do differently next time?

On wheels??? That sounds like a cheaper alternative to the harvesting truck that would come out to our ranch and do the job tbere.

gus4416 I live next to my deer camp, but if I didn’t, I would have built it differently. Probably made it with the 8x8 cooler for hanging and processing with a room for camping.

samspade I would build it differently if I was using it for harvesting. Would want a hoist of some kind, and a crane arm if doing beef. I do my harvesting with a tractor and will finish up in the trailer.

Another perk of a mobile processing room is that mobile kitchens don’t usually apply to the same regulations as brick and mortar facilities. So instead of needing to dispose of liquid waste in a city sewer or septic you can compost as long as you are using biodegradable chemicals…of course check with local agencies before planning and building if you intend for commercial purposes.

This looks good Deepwoodsbutcher, I’ve been researching and accumulating gear for years so I can do similar.

Not sure where you are located but make sure you have it big and fly proof. I have a portable shed next to my cooler shed I was planning on using for a cutting room but even though it’s well insulated I get flies swarming inside it in the fall. Still not quite sure where they get in at. Just something to think about if you live on or near a cattle farm

knifemaker3 Good point. My biggest issue with that would be yellow jackets. I plan on using a trap as well as a screen door flap to help with flys.
