johnsbrewhouse The only problem with banana bread is there’s not enough for everyone else. OR only a small amount is available because I would just keep nibbling until its alllllll gone. One of my fav breads.

zbigjeff Very true, I cut a small piece off and next thing I know about a fifth of it is missing. The kid that lives with us (bottomless pit) shaved a small piece off for himself so he says “small”. Glad it wasn’t large. Fixed him, wrapped it in plastic wrap so he has to work for the next piece and if that doesn’t keep him out, I’ll throw it in the chamber sealer and seal the bag shut on him without vacuum.

johnsbrewhouse I know what you mean. I’ve got a 12yr old bottomless pit at my house. Not much detours him. Good luck 👍

johnsbrewhouse I know the feeling as well. I’ve got a 19 year old boy and a 17 year old boy. It’s like living with hungry wolves. Lol

johnsbrewhouse I remember when I was young, mom always made two loaves at a time, luckily my younger brother doesn’t like bananas, but they didn’t last long between me and two older brothers. Not sure how my parents could afford to feed us.

Lance This one is 34, he was my son’s best friend, he has lived with us on and off since his parents got divorced just before they finished high school. He just like a son. Hopefully within the next year he will finish his B/S degree and leave the nest. He is a good kid and helps out everyone in the whole family, but nothing is off limits to him. He cleans out leftovers, if you want to save it, you better mark it.

bocephus There were four of us, three boys. My mom made several loaves too. My youngest brother could polish a loaf off in one sitting. Mom used to freeze cookies and breads and lock the freezer until he picked the lock. We had a lot of grilled cheese and tomato soup, you went out to eat maybe once a month, and had lots of chicken or pork.

Made chicken on the run strips for my son who came home from collage for the weekend, and for me and the wife sous vide some marinaded chicken breast to put on a salad. Sorry about the salad guys, almost embarrassed to put it on a meat site, but I gotta lose some weight

kyle I need to loose some weight too, but time I’m done making a salad I think it is probably worse for me than 99% of the other foods I eat. I mean really who can eat rabbit food undressed, you got to have ham, bacon, cheese, croutons, dressing, olives, and sunflower seeds unless I have arugula, but I digress.

While the first 3 boys were home I was active duty in a rapid deployment unit and we did physical training to the point of insanity, so between the four of us we could eat the table and all. Like you mentioned I still do not know how I afforded to feed all of us, but by GOD’s grace I did and since that time I raised two more kids and now have three more that we adopted, so the cycle will start over.

Somedays you just have to do something besides meat or dinner. I had a couple of over ripe banana’s sitting on the counter plus some in the freezer that were begging to be taken care of. Decided to make banana bread in two varieties, one standard with walnuts from my tree and a tropical version with macadamia nuts, coconut, pineapple and candied orange pieces. Sampled the original version for quality control purposes since it was mom’s recipe. I sure she is looking down and pleased with the results as I am.IMG_0310.JPG

Well I don’t remember who all told me to use Chicken on the Run on grill, but thank you, it turned out great! Wings 2 ways with Chicken on the Run and Chicken on the Run Nashville Hot. Also made some potato boats.
