What did everyone cook today?
-
GWG8541 I make either ham and bean soup or cream of ham and potato soup with leftover ham. Good stuff.
-
It was chili night at our house too. We have a cold front moving through so it was good.

-
A little bean soup with ham and some skillet cornbread. I topped off the beans with the home canned Cowboy Candy for a little heat. It must be the Hillbilly DNA, but I love beans and cornbread.

GWG8541 nice looking meal. You covered all; the food groups.

ND Mike That is known as a Frito Pie here.
-
ND Mike Man that looks good, I wish you would send some of that chili weather down this way.

calldoctoday we are supposed to get to -1 tonight.

bocephus yeah…I use fritos as my crackers since I have to be gluten free.
-
ND Mike Is that Fritos I see. I love them in my Chili. If we have them in the hiuse, I don’t make cornbread. I always take them camping when I make chili.

ND Mike keep that stuff up north.

Venison and mushroom pot pie, that isn’t gravy that I made and added in, it’s just a nice long reduction of the broth and wine, while everything became super tender. I actually served this over some sautéed sweet potatoes.

A little preview of today’s mid day football watching, other random stuff on Sunday snack…A buddy of mine gave me this package.

HerbcoFood bet those are going to be good

Another soup day for lunch catching up on the honey do list from hunting last week. My beautiful wife requested chili, so deer chilli it is. I started with cooking onion and garlic in the pot and then putting in the ground venison to brown it. I added the onions and garlic back in and added the secret ingredient, home canned tomato juice. Ill hate it when I run out of this stuff for the season.
You Texas chili guys may want to look away, I not only add chili beans (red beans), I add black beans as well. One more thing I like to add is finely diced mushrooms. With venison it blends well. Topped it with cheddar and fresh diced onion. I cooked a new batch of cornbread because both of my sons destroyed yesterday’s batch.

GWG8541 good looking chili and cornbread

Here is it, buttermilk chicken fried pheasant using Excalibur’s Nashville Hot Rub, then I drizzled some of RafterW raw and unfiltered Kansas honey over it. My daughter thought it was chicken, then again she is 6. Solid solid solid mid day snack.

HerbcoFood oh man that looks great

HerbcoFood love home made pot pie. Yours looks great.

I grilled a chuck roast that spent 2 days in the Argentine marinade Tex_77 has recommended. Boy was he right. This stuff is good. Also grilled some potato wedges and jalapeños using Excaliburs potato seasoning. It is also very good
