PapaSop I tried & tried to figure out what to do with them horns, for years. I tried making zoup out of them, you name it. Nothing would work. Meat is Meat!

calldoctoday They look pretty on the wall, but meat in the freezer is what it is all about.

Just pulled in the driveway from 3 days of of deer hunting. This is gun week in Ohio. So opening day I tried to listen in on the Live cast, but it kept buffering and I couldn’t really take advantage of any deals. I was able to type in a shout out from the tree. This was the view while listening to Jonathon Austin and JohnG5 with a earbud in.

The big boys did not cooperate and I harvested a doe this morning.

One of my sons made it for 2 days, but never had a shot on one. A friend who is 81 next week, took a doe this morning about 1 minute before I shot this one. It’s always a blessing to put meat in the freezer and always a good day when hunting with friends and family.

calldoctoday PapaSop I’ve always been a meat hunter. If I get a big buck, its just a bonus. I can remember years ago when it was buck only in Ohio and doe was lottery only. My dad was so happy when Ohio went to deer of either sex. Last year both sons and I took doe and ate real well. Its all about filling the freezer to us. I do have a friend who picked up some deer antler dog chews, so I guess they do serve a purpose.

GWG8541 We are buck only here in Washington and have antler restrictions as well. Doe by drawings, lucky if you ever get one for where you really want to hunt. We have doe’s all over our 6 acres in the mountains knowing we can’t hunt them, and they are good sized. The same goes for the cow elk, everything is 3 point or better in the management area.

Had a great time with out of state family over the Thanksgiving holiday. Got to shoot some skeet one day and had a blast. I discovered my 12 year old son is a natural with a shotgun . He amazed all the adults. He hardly ever missed even on doubles. I wish I could say the same for me.20211126_171502.jpg

Almost forgot we also had time for some bass fishing and it surprised me how good they were biting for late November. We had a big fish fry and everyone loved that. Sorry no pictures. My bad. 2 nephews from Ohio want to move here now just for the fishing. 20211124_141512.jpg 20211124_141447.jpg

bocephus it has to be something like that. This was his first time shooting 12 guage. He has hardly ever fired a shotgun. Mostly rifles.

cdavis Look up the SCTP and get him on a local shooting team. I have been a head coach here in Ohio for over 10yrs. Great program and gets the kids off their phone and away from the tv for some good outdoor time!

My pan sausage seasonings are in, pork butts are actually on sale this week but over the past few weeks pork sales price is now up to $1.49/lb, it’s not going to stop me naturally. I just need the time now to do it.
