processhead Gotcha okay, Have you sussed out why they went out on you?

I will have to do some more testing but I think this A-mazing pellet tray likes to be filled clear to the top with pellets before it is lit.

It seems to stay lit better that way. Could have something to do with a larger smoldering ember area being less likely to go out.

I have the tube. Works better full. No idea why.

I have a theory, but you know what they say about theories. lol

Anyway, when you are relying on smoldering pellets and no open flame, I think it is just more susceptible to going out. So with more pellets smoldering, you are just increasing the odds that the thing will stay hot enough to stay lit.

The other thing you can do with these A-mazing pellet smoker deals is light both ends to generate more smoke (but for half as long.)

It really is easy for the most part.
Curing whole cuts of anything gets you away from the grinding, mixing, and stuffing chores.
Time-wise, products like bacon might be more time consuming, but it’s just down time, because you are just waiting for the process to complete.

I’m with you on that, concerning the stuff I do. I’m a total novice. I just try to play follow the leader and so far, have not been disappointed with the results.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU THAT OFFERED ADVICE AND ENCOURAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THE PROJECT!

Sometimes it is hard to keep up the momentum on a bigger project when there are other things I have to or want to do.

With equipment getting more expensive, I maybe someone can apply some of this project/thread for their own smoker build.

Just remember to be safe with any project involving heat/ electricity and the use of power tools.

processhead I’ve had zero problems after lighting it on one end as long as I let it burn for at least 2 minutes before blowing out. The 2 min rule solved the “going out” issue.

processhead Again, thanks for sharing your journey. It’s been great to follow your progress. Must be pretty darn satisfying to finally reap the rewards of your labors. Good job.
