What did everyone cook today?

johnsbrewhouse I always carry one of my Glocks in the woods with me. I am more concerned with 2 legged animals rather than the ones with 4 legs. I guess I have trust issues. Be careful with the dope/meth encampments.
GWG8541 I just don’t how someone who can’t pass HS chemistry can figure out how to make meth. That stuff and it’s waste products are nasty, you have houses that become hazmat sites, dumps sites, vehicles, etc… Things blow up, folks get severe burns then first responders have to deal with the hazards and mess.

Baked some cinnamon rolls and a blueberry pie with my daughter today. The rolls don’t look the best but they tasted great!

Grimpuppy That pie sure looks tasty. Hey if they taste good I don’t have any complaints.

Gas service has been out for my neighborhood for 2 days. So, no prob. Get the grill/smoker fired up, cube up some butternut squash, apply simple EVOO-S&P (take off and drizzle on some pure maple syrup) and then reverse sear a nice ribeye. I overshot the ribeye before sear to 124. But, still turned out OK. Next time will probably shoot for 115-119.

Picked up this ‘little griddle’ on marketplace for 30 bucks. Christening it with some Onion and smash burgers.

Surg Looks nice, great deal.

Ball tip roast sous vide to 130 degrees then sear on the CharBroil. Fresh acorn squash and beets to go with the meal. Was going to cook up the last of the green beans that I picked today, but ran out of time. With the cool weather coming on fast, the garden is start show signs of fall.

Namrats man you got it looking good

We did our Labor Day meal on Sunday. Set up bot Traegers and smoked a pork shoulder for pulled pork, did a small slab of beef ribs, four country pork ribs, sweet potatoes and smoked mac & cheese. Also made Rotekohl, German braised red cabbage with bacon to go with the pulled pork and pork ribs. Everything came out excellent. It’s just the Wife and myself so today we vac packed and put in the freezer for when the snow flies.
Hope you all had a great Labor Day and ate well. We sure did!

Bob Stehlik unless you were both really hungry you’ve got a freezer full. It all looks great

Did one slab of baby back and one slab of St. Louis style ribs on the pellet smoker, and picked the last of the green beans from the garden; seasoned with end pieces of dry rub bacon. Thanks to ND Mike I did my trial run at the Black Forrest Chocolate Cherry dump cake before camping next month. It was all delicious and I ate way too much today. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day.

GWG8541 that is a beautiful looking meal

Hatch green chile tri-tip reversed seared on my PK 360. Grill potato salad with lemony mayo made on the Broilmaster.

Bob Stehlik Gather them “nuts” for the bad times. The human version of the “chipmunks”.

johnsbrewhouse Just wondering: is a ball tip roast the same as a knuckle or eye of round? Or something else?

zbigjeff The eye comes off the round which is the hip cuts. The ball tip and tri-tip come off the sirloin. They are tougher cuts than the eye of the round and can contain gristle. Needs to be cooked slow to tenderize. It is used for roasts a lot. It is fairly lean like sirloin steak since it is from the same muscle group.

johnsbrewhouse Was wondering as the same cuts are many times called the same thing. Thanks

zbigjeff It’s when they use tip in the name. The round has several roasts with tip in the name, round because you have a sirloin right next to the round, where your top sirloin steaks come from. I want to believe it is from the continuation of the muscle group.

HerbcoFood Makes great BBQ and a great roast too.
