GWG8541 My wife spent a lot of time in Georgia as well as my father in law being born and raised there thus their love of okra and eggplant. My mom and dad came from the NE so we never had to eat the stuff. I grew okra for her one year, ugly plant, beautiful flowers, doesn’t like the cool wet weather of Western Washington (might like this years hot weather). I spent more time in Texas and Hawaii, so I eat other types of veggies. Mom was a dietician, so we were well rounded in our eating.

johnsbrewhouse Okra is definitely a hot weather plant. It has some great nutritional value, but you have to pick it as soon as the pod gets about 3 to 4 inches. If you wait too long it get to tough to eat. Its a tricky crop for sure.

Grimpuppy now that looks tasty. I haven’t had a good corn dog in a long time. It would definitely be satisfying and taste better for sure.

Grimpuppy Homemade corn dogs are the best and the obnoxiously large ones you get at fairs/rodeos, etc.

For those of you dieting, close your eyes. I put a smoked and peppered pork tenderloin on the pellet grill. Thats the healthy part, but then fried up okra and egg plant from the garden, and since the fryer was already on, I also made some homemade French fries. Ill walk a little extra tomorrow.

Grimpuppy this is what I use for white sauce
                                    2T butter
                                    2T flour
                                    1/4 tsp salt
                                    2 cups milk
melt butter slowly. Shake milk and flour together in a container then stir into melted butter. Continue stirring to a boil. For cheese sauce add 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Also, I always add some garlic powder to taste. I use this recipe as a base for almost everything. Scalloped potatoes and ham, biscuits and gravy, s**t on a shingle.

hey vegetarians, my food poops on your food!
